I have had 3 more Paclitaxel infusions since my last blog entry. The underlying pattern has remained consistent with the previous treatments. Unfortunately I have started to build up some more worrying side effects on top.
First of all, I have some peripheral neuropathy. Whilst it’s early stage, this has always been a red flag issue for me. At the moment it is pins and needles in hands together with a woolly feeling that isn’t quite numbness on the thumbs and some of the fingers. Toes are sore and itchy with some blood under a couple of the nails.
Secondly I have frequent blood clots in my nose and am finding I get a bit more out of breath - worrying as a regular runner pre-chemo.
I have an oncology review tomorrow and am minded to continue but only if the dose is reduced - and to stop altogether it the dose reduction doesn’t relieve these symptoms. We will see what they have to say. Either way I only have at most 3 more of the 12 to go. It will also be interesting to see if they have my CT results yet.
I also have the first meeting with the consultant from the radiotherapy department this week, so lots of decisions to make.
