Hi, new here - hello
I am 38 years old, and I had a hysterectomy 4 weeks ago due to endometrial hyperplasia and just had my pathology results yesterday - stage 1 cancer was found. I also had stage 4 endometriosis, and they found some cancerous cells outside the womb within the endometriosis.
I am going for a CT scan at some point next week to find out if it’s an isolated event, but I’m going to need surgery to remove the endometriosis and my ovaries - so surgical menopause is imminent
It feels very scary, I hate having the “c word” it just feels never ending. All I can do is take things step by step, and focus on the things I can control whilst everything is spiralling and that gave me so comfort. I feel totally OK and had been recovering well from the surgery, and was feeling positive and optimistic towards the future. It all feels bitterly unfair, but I have to focus on the fact it’s been caught early. ️
Hi Lulubel38
Welcome to the Womb group.
I am sorry to hear of your hysterectomy and that cancer was found. It must have been a worry after it being thought to be hyperplasia. I can understand it feels pretty scary at the moment.
The CT scan sounds normal as because some cancerous cells were found outside of the womb they would need to confirm exactly where the cancer was in the body to make sure it has all been removed. Where ladies already have a diagnosis before surgery the CT is normally done first for staging.
Taking things step by step is a good plan and things can certainly feel out of control. It sounds like you are recovering well from your surgery. I hope that the CT shows no further spread of any cancer and that the surgery to remove your ovaries and any endometriosis can be done quickly.
Please do give the Support Line a call if you feel like talking things through would help.

Im new too. I seem to have less information than you but heres my story. I went to the doctor for periods, they were coming every 2.5 weeks very heavy for around 4 days and excessive clotting. I was put to gynecologist for merina coil. At 1st appointment I was told I had fibroids and womb was behaving abnormally. I had to go for surgical implant of merina had a hysteroscope and had scrapes done, they also found a polyp at that point. My biopsy had cancerous cells no idea of stage, grade or anything as yet. I am waiting for an MRI, not sure why MRI not CT. I was told hysterectomy where she will take ovaries too. I am 44 and sterilised, pre menopausal it's all so scary I hope to feel better once I know more after MRI the C word and unknown are so scary.
I wish you well in your journey and happy they caught it early for you, here's hoping I can say the same soon
Thank you, yes it’s confusing as to why they do different scans - previously I’ve had MRI scans. I’m going to speak to macmillian nurse as this weekend was really spent processing things. I wish you well on your journey too - and I’m always here to talk as well as I’ve already been through the hysterectomy surgery as well.
We just have to take things step by step, and seek support from family, friends and online communities like this to get through.
Good evening,
My story is im 53, going to go for Tvs scan on 08th Aug, my only symptom is very heavy bleeding so much so 2 incontinence pads. Had fibroid removed about 4 yrs ago but gynea seems to think at my age l should be post menopausal.
But what l am struggling with the most is I'm facing this alone, no friends or family to turn too for support. I was wondering is there anybody facing this alone?
Hi Nanno
Sending you a hug. I live on my own, with most friends and family living quite a distance from me, so I went through most of my journey on my own, did have a small amount of help, so I know how this feels. I was lucky though, that even though some of my friends live a long way away, I was regularly in touch with them for support. I also found this forum so so helpful. If I can help please let me know
Hi Nanno
Welcome to the womb group.
I am sorry to hear of your bleeding and understand its a worrying time. I think the thing to remember is that there are potentially different reasons for the bleeding and the tvs is simply to have a closer look.
It can be hard to face things when you are feeling alone but there are many ladies on here who will want to offer you support. We also have the Support Line if you feel like you want to talk things through with someone.
Good Luck for the 8th and in the meantime if there is anything you need, please do ask.
Jane
