I have just been diagnosed with Carcinosarcoma. I’m so sad and scared. Just awaiting the results of the CT scan and then will know more. Has anyone else been through this? Sending love.

  • Hello Looby6. Yes I well remember the turmoil of getting the diagnosis and I'm sure everyone on here will say the same. Come on here whenever you need support or to just vent anger, frustration or fear. There are some very knowledgeable ladies here who will be able to give you their experiences. Sending hugs.

  • Hi Looby6

Welcome to the Womb group. I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of cancer and remember how scary it felt when I had my diagnosis.

If you click on my name- my profile will come up- but I also had carcinoma sarcoma. Mine was in 2022. I am doing ok now at 2 1/2 years post treatment.

After the diagnosis from the biopsy, it is normal to have a scan and they are checking exactly where the cancer is to make sure you have the most effective treatment. For most ladies where medically possible a hysterectomy is offered. For some ladies that alone is enough but for others there may be follow up needed.

It is a scary time to go through but I found once I had my scan results back and had met with the consultant- it helped to have my treatment plan and to know what would happen and when. In the meantime we do have the Support Line available if you feel like you need to talk things through with someone. The number is below and they are there from 8am-8pm daily.

Carcinoma sarcoma is a rarer type of womb cancer and it simply means that the biopsy results showed a mixture of the more usual carcinoma cells and the rarer sarcoma cells. It is normally treated as any other endometrial cancer and normally responds in the same way to treatment. It is not a sarcoma.

If there is anything you want to ask about, please do so.
