Hi had my hysterectomy yesterday hoping they removed all the cancer. My question is has anyone been scared to close their eyes to sleep since surgery I am feeling so different today I am guessing after 3 months of enormous stress it may take time to relax?
I don't know anything much about the operation but I do understand your feelings after a major situation. You must be relieved and scared at the same time. After all the uncertainty, you have arrived at a different point in your journey and need time to get used to things. Well done for getting through the surgery though - it's not easy and you now have a different perspective.
I am sure someone will be along to advise you soon. There are many on here who have had the same surgery and will be able to offer practical tips on coping from here on. Meanwhile, be kind to yourself and take things easy....
HI Hebe hebe
Welcome to the Womb group.
I am sorry to hear of your cancer and I wish you well for your recovery from the surgery.
It is very normal to feel a range of emotions after the surgery and I know that my sleep was interrupted for a while. I think I was also affected by the anaesthetic. The emotions that we go through during testing, diagnosis and surgery and the physical demands of going to all the appointments- I think for many ladies once the surgery is done and they are back home- some of the processing can start to happen. Things can all happen in a bit of a whirlwind,
I did very little for the first week after my surgery. I did have a short walk each day but apart from that, I took things easy. I caught up on tv, read books and did jigsaws on my tablet etc.
Your body and mind has gone through a lot so my advice is to listen to your body- rest and heal. I found it helpful to shower and get dressed each morning and come downstairs. When the weather was nice I would sit outside in the garden. By the second week I was able to walk to the local shops and was fine doing this as long as I had someone with me to carry anything.
We do have the Support Line from 8am to 8pm each day if you want to talk things through.
