Hi all I am new here.

I am struggling to process and accept that I have Womb Cancer; as I am sure many of you felt the same.

it was all just so fast that I am reeling. From the first appointment I had a CT Scan 7 days later, then biopsy/started hormone treatment 7 days later, then got my diagnosis another 7 days later - which was 10 days ago.

I have MRI in 2 days time, and just hope it has not spread. The MDT have ruled out surgery, chemo and radiotherapy due to other health issues, including being over weight.  My only hope is is the hormone treatment, and that I have started weight managemnt injections.  I'm just exhausted, so sorry for my negativity, hopefully things will settle a bit soon.

Hope you are enjoying the sunshine, whatever you are doing.

  • Hi

Sorry to hear you have joined the womb Cancer club. I hope any treatment going forward will help. If you lose weight will the MDT revisit your case?

  • Hi,

Sorry to hear that news. It is indeed scary for anyone getting this diagnosis.

You don't mention the grade you have, but I assume that it must be low-grade for them to offer you hormone treatment, which is promising in itself if that's the case.

May I ask whether the hormone treatment is tablets or Mirena coil - or both perhaps? I have had a mirena coil in for the last 6 months, with few problems. Just had another biopsy and the good news is that the treatment is working!

My womb lining has gone from 14mm - down to 4mm - and the cancer is reversing with the treatment, with no spread.

Just wanted to give you some positive news that horomone treatment can work.

If you lose enough weight your team might then offer you surgery at some point - but even if that's not a viable option for you, many women manage their condition with hormone treatment for a considerable time.

I am hoping for me that once the condition is reversed, that I will just regular montioring over time as I also have complex medical issues that make me unsuitable for surgery.

Take each day at a time and good luck with the MRI. I hate MRI'S but it's necessary. Sending good wishes.

  • Hi Sbird,

Thank you. Yes they said that they will, which is good news.

  • Hi LolaBear

Thank you for your reply. Your story does provide a positive swing to what is happening for you. Lets hope it continues that way.

They have said its 1/2 but it is not the most aggresive type I have a Mirena Coil only at this point.  I thought they would update me once the MRI results are in. They were a little limited with info, but I had reported symptoms 6 months ago but was referred for my Kidneys, then no one picked it up when nothing was found so maybe they want results before they tell me any more

  • I hope you get answers soon. As your cancer is the least aggressive (mine is grade 1), let's hope there has been no spread. It's awful waiting for results and I hope you get good news soon. How long has your coil been in and when is your next biopsy?

I was surprised that they took the last biopsy whilst the coil was still in there!

  • Hi Artie,

Like you I have low grade womb cancer (grade 1 stage 1A) and they are not keen to do surgery because of other issues including weight and a hernia. I was first diagnosed last August and have been being treated just with hormone tablets. I didn’t get the coil as I had heard some stories about it being painful. I had a six month scan last November and they said they can see no evidence of the cancer. Due another scan soon so hope this is still the case. If your cancer is hormone sensitive this can be a successful treatment though you will need regular biopsies. Hope this reassures.

  • Hi Holly! We've spoken before and so happy for you that there is no sign of disease.

My scan showed no spread and lining of 4mm, which is much better, plus partial reversal, so I am pleased with the treatment so far. Hoping that I can reverse it completely but not happy that I may have to keep the coil in for a long time.

Whilst the coil isn't painful, I don't want to be on hormone treatment indefinitely and am working with my team to get it removed eventually and just be monitored.

I need to lose a lot more weight though! I can't have the tablets, due to being over 60 but the coil has been my friend so far. Nice to hear your positive news!

  • I have no idea, I expect the CNS will tell me once she has a better picture of what is happening for me.

  • Hi Holly75,

I understand, the Coil did hurt to have it done, but they said this was my primary treatment, so I went with it.

I am so pleased for you that your hormone treatment has made a very positive impact, fingers crossed the next scan shows the same. I hope I get such positive news that the cancer is responsive to hormones.

I hope that it is responsive. I had teh MRI pelvic area today - so am playing the waiting game now.

    BW, A

  • Do you have a coil in then? Mine was fitted just over 6 months ago and my lining has reduced from 14mm to 4mm and the biopsy shows partial resolution and response to hormone treatment. I am hoping that it will be even better next time around. I do hope that your situation improves soon.
