Hi everyone
I've had breast cancer twice in 2015 & 2019 so I've been through chemo , radiotherapy mastectomy etc . 1st cancer out me into menopause so I've not had period since 2015 .However I woke at the end of Jan(27) to slight spotting, called GP in the morning and they had me in for smear test that week (29)and said they automatically send you for scan etc .The smear came back normal but the scan wasn't till end of Feb (27)which I thought was a bit of a wait. The bleeding and cramps have gotten worse all this time then would slow down then back again so I've basically been bleeding since Jan .After scan and biopsy I eventually got a call on March 20th to say I have womb cancer and to go for CT scan. All I've been told is it's 4cm in size and my head was all over the place I never asked anything else.
I was back to see oncologist on 25/4 and she said I can't get hysterectomy as I'm too big so it is 5 weeks radiotherapy and chemo on the Mondays .
I don't know what stage/grade etc only that the aim of treatment is disease control which I read means not to cure it just improve symptoms/or help me live longer .
I'm bit upset about no hysterectomy as I was same weight when I had mastectomy so now I feel like I'm living with cancer with no light at end of the tunnel.
Sorry for long post . Lorraine
Hi, I am surprised that they didn't offer you hormone treatment. I am overweight and over 60 - and they first offered me hormone treatment, by way of having a Mirena coil fitted. I've had it in for 6 months now and am slowly losing weight. They often offer women this to allow them to lose weight and the coil can control or even clear the cancer whilst they are losing weight, so they can have surgery later. You need to ask questions I think. For example: what grade is the cancer and what stage. This affects what treatments they might offer you. They generally only offer hormone treatment for early stage/slow growing cancer but it's worth asking. I understand that sometimes it's overwhelming and you forget to ask questions but now is the time to get those answers before you plunge into treatment.
