Hi I had some bleeding (after menopause) and had my ultrasound on 29th July. This showed a thickness of the womb lining 10.9. I then had a biopsy on 12th August. Initially was told the cells were pre cancer. But the results are back yesterday showing cancer, I am now waiting for mri etc. I was also told I have lynch syndrome and was wondering how common this is? Thanks for any advice.
Hi Barney 45
Welcome to the Womb group. I am sorry to hear that you have had a diagnosis of endometrial cancer. I remember what a worrying time it was when I had my diagnosis. If you click on my name it will show my journey so far.
When biopsy results come back as showing cancer, it is normal to have a scan- some ladies seem to be offered MRI and some ladies, like myself are given a CT. What they are trying to do is to get a provisional stage and grade to determine the most effective treatment. Sometimes genetic factors are important in deciding on treatment and Lynch is one of those.
I will pop a link here to some info on Lynch syndrome.

How are you feeling? I can remember being a bit all over the place to begin with but once the testing was complete and I had a treatment plan- it did all start to feel a bit more in control. Most ladies are offered a hysterectomy. Mine was done 4 weeks after my first symptom of bleeding and was done via keyhole. The surgery was straight forward, I had little pain and went home the following day. I recovered well. I had some follow up treatment, but not everyone does.
I will pop a link to some info about endometrial cancer which you may feel you want to look at -at some point. I found a lot of the information on line was not particularly accurate or was out of date.

Thank you so much. I feel that from my first referral to finding out the news has taken so long, over 5 weeks and of course still am waiting a further date for the MRI. Yes my gynaecologist has said it will be a hysterectomy within next 4/5 weeks and probably keyhole. Typical I work in a school and am due back next week! I will look at the links you kindly have given. Thank you.
