I’m. Alie P,
I was diagnosed with this disease this week and I can’t even say the word right now, this has been such a shock and you never think it will happen to you but it has. I will have an MRI next week and who knows from there. It’s all terrifying.
Hi Alie.... it can be a huge shock but you will be well looked after. What type of cancer do you have? I was diagnosed with endometriosis back in April and had a full hysterectomy in May. My radiotherapy treatment starts on Monday with 33 daily sessions Monday to Friday which will be followed by 4 rounds of chemotherapy. Mine is a 1A Grade 3 so thankfully treatable. I had no symptoms whatsoever and it was found purely by chance. Because everything happened so quickly my head has just caught up with the fact that I have cancer. I’m just taking one day at a time... accept all of the support you are offered and no question is silly so ask all the questions that you need ... sending you a hug
Hi Dramalady,
I’m having an MRI scan this week to see where this is, is it in the womb or moved? I think I was told grade 2, so they said keyhole hysterectomy if it’s in the womb but if it’s in the muscle then I’ll go to the bigger hospital for a bigger op. I don’t think it’s hit me at all but it will!!
thanks for you warm reply, I never thought I would be joining this site this is a site no one wants to join and yet you realise your not alone in this x
You will be really well looked after. All staff who work with cancer patients I have found to be special nurses including the male ones lol ...I’m the biggest drama Queen around even though I’m 61 and I have found each and every one of them so helpful and they have got me through everything so far which I’ll be forever grateful. The NHS have some of the best staff so stay strong and ask all the questions you need... you can do this ... x
Well I’m 58 and haven’t been to hospital for anything!! So having needles and anaesthetic as well as this disease and anxiety is gonna be a real test. I’ve found the same so far everyone has been professional and kind too and kindness goes along way. Thanks for your encouraging words, I appreciate them x
I suffer from huge anxiety and I dreaded every appointment but I can honestly say looking back I wish I hadn’t stressed myself out so much. I lost hours of sleep because I was so scared which to be honest I think it’s pretty normal to feel stress due to the unknown... I don’t stress now and I make sure I get as much sleep as possible...x
Hi Alie P
Welcome to the Online Community and the Womb group.
I am really sorry to hear of your diagnosis of endometrial cancer. I remember how I felt when I had my diagnosis- all over the place, shock, scared, up and down.
The MRI is normal and it is to help them work out exactly where the cancer is so that they can best decide on the treatment. Most ladies are offered a hysterectomy. Mine was 4 weeks after my first symptoms and it was done laparoscopically. I had very little pain, went home the day after surgery and recovered well. For some ladies that can be all the treatment needed. Others, like myself go on to have some follow up treatment.
I hope that you have support around you but if talking things through would help then please do give the Support Line a call. You should be given a CNS- cancer nurse specialist- at the hospital and they will be there as your first port of call with any worries and will be there to support you.
i will pop a link here to some information that helped me. Do not feel you have to look at it yet if you are not ready but it may be useful to get a bit of background reliable information for when you see your consultant to talk about next steps.
