Hi Shloha
All sounds very normal to me. I felt the same.
10 days is still very early- both emotionally and physically. Any form of key hole surgery- if you think about it- is the same once the surgeon is inside the body- the same parts removed, the same ligaments etc cut. Yes there is no abdominal wound but everything inside that is done is done the same- this is what my consultant said to me.
Its a big surgery and it takes time to recover. It sounds like you are doing well with short walks and pottering around at home but remember rest is just as important when you are healing. Listen to your body and when you get hit by the sudden tiredness - it is time to rest. I also found pacing myself really helped- so build short amounts of movement into your routine and also build quiet times into your routine. To begin with my CNS recommended moving around once every hour. So if I got up, showered, had breakfast and then sat down for a drink- then after an hour I may go and do something like wash up etc. Then I would rest for a bit and then go for a short walk. To begin with walks may just be walking up and down the garden a few times a day. It is not a race to walk as far as possible, as early as possible. Healing takes time.
It sounds like you are doing really well to be doing what you are 10 days post op. Inside there will still be swelling, bruising etc. Small amounts several times a day- are better than over doing it and putting back your healing. Healing takes energy. I know for myself I did sleep a lot on and off in the first couple of weeks- partly the anaesthetic and partly just recovering.
Jane
Hiya again, yes totally normal, I flaked out for a nap every afternoon - and that in January/February not hot June! Be busy when you feel like it and rest when you feel like it - that’s what listening to our bodies means! You’re doing just fine,
Thank you so so much Jane. I think I need to have less high expectations haha. I love to sit and watch a boxed set or read my kindle, it's just prior to op I would feel guilty for giving myself the time to do so - (I'm sure like all women on here we do a lot of running around for others). I think I'm gonna just now enjoy some me time without feeling guilty .
Thank you Marmite Fan. Good to hear it's normal our bodies seem to con us into feeling we are fighting fit and then we 'flop'. I'll learn to embrace the flop
