Hi Everyone, i had my total hysterectomy done on 31st January, after some slight bleeding that stopped for almost a week, i have for the last 2 weeks had a constant (very light) amount of discharge - sometimes pink, sometimes a darker colour. Its not been bright red. It also seems to be slightly more after activity. I know from all the correspondence they gave me, and from reading online that you can have this on and off until fully recovered. I was just wondering what other people's experiences were and when it all stopped for them? thank you.
Hi 70cw, when you say “after activity”, could you say a bit more about what sort of activity? Just wondering if it’s possible that you may have been overdoing things? I’d suggest contacting the ward or your CNS for reassurance and advice.
Hi, thank you for your reply. Just whenever i've been for a walk or have slightly bent to do something (which i do avoid doing). Maybe you are right and i have been overdoing things, although i'm still conscious not to lift anything and do avoid bending as much as possible.
It may also be to do the with the internal stitches dissolving. The walking should be fine - I was walking 30-45 mins per day by then. Could possibly be the bending. I know you said you’re not lifting but it’s worth checking yourself on that just in case.
Hi 70cw
I was told that this was something that may happen- slight bleeding, discharge etc. They said to contact hospital if there was heavy bleeding or it was painful.
Sometimes when you start doing a bit too much, this can cause a bit of bleeding in some ladies. It is good to be active and for example go for a gentle wander, but no lifting, heavy housework etc. Twisting movements can cause discomfort- so like hoovering. I would tend to rest and then get up and move around a bit each hour. And I built up slowly.
I didn't experience any post op bleeding or discharge but I did feel it when I over did things.
if you do have any concerning symptoms there should be a number on your discharge paperwork to call for reassurance. You can also give the Support Line a call and talk to one of the nurses.
