Okay so went for scan on Monday morning having dutifully drank down the contrast solution they’d sent me.Yeuch! At the hospital I get called right on time and taken into an examination room and out comes the trolley loaded with syringe, one of those little things they put in your veins to make it easier to inject stuff into your system, and more contrast stuff. Now my veins have an aversion to needles at the best of times but at 9:30 in the morning not a snowball in hell’s chance are they going to cooperate. They tried both arms one sort of let them start but then decided it wasn’t playing, results a syringe full of fluid under my skin which was actually a bit sore. Nurse apologised and went to get Doctor who having checked the veins disappeared and came back with a basin of hot water which I had to steep both hands in palms up.They were considering the back of my hand. That didn’t work either, ended up they had to put the needle in through the veins on my wrist Ouch! I was in CT dept best part of an hour. I asked if there was any chance of the results being through for the next day as thats when the haematology consultant was phoning me supposedly with scan results. Poor nurse sighed and said they’d try. Guess what, of course it didn’t happen, poor souls are playing catch up because of Covid , they have a backlog of patients to get through. Consultant apologised when he phoned and said he’d set up another phone consultation for next week. One thing he did say was that he was relatively confident it would come back clear and no further treatment needed but he wanted to be 100% sure and get the scans checked out by the lymphoma specialist on my MDT. Well ladies that means I’m back in the McMillan virtual waiting room again so I’m thinking of decorating this place since I’m going to be here a while. Anyone got any suggestions?
How about a nice big
on one of the walls?
. Catch up with you next week hopefully with some results.

Hi Angie. Golly that sounds awful. Funny thing I was a blood donor for years until I developed a thyroid problem then had to stop. After that, no way was my body going to surrender my blood easily - never had to go through what you went through though.
Another week, another wait and fingers crossed good news at the end.
Hugs, Barb xx

Hi Barb, Yes me too with the thyroid , never used to have a problem until the annual visits to the vampire started. Now my veins go into hiding when they see a needle coming. Isn't the body amazing in the ways it tries to protect itself. Must admit though that was the worst I've ever had it. I'm thinking it was due to lack of fluids. I was too scared to drink too much water in case it left me feeling desperate for the loo and having to cross my legs.,as I wasn't allowed to go because of the contrast I'd just drank. Anyway hopefully next week will bring good news.
