Hi there,
My hysterectomy was 2 days ago and I am home recovering. The doctor said that it went very smoothly, but they found some endometriosis while they were in there. They sent some to the lab with the rest, so now I am waiting to hear the results. Just wondering if anyone here has experienced this. I have read about endometriosis but can’t say that I have suffered pain from it at all. It is a surprise to me that it’s there, as my cousin suffered from the pain of it for three decades. I am post-menopausal, if that makes any difference. I read that it can continue growing after a hysterectomy so I am a bit concerned.
Thanks for listening and I wish you well,
Supercub
Hi . Good to hear that you're home after your hysterectomy and all went well. Now the waiting game starts for histology results.
I myself never suffered with endometriosis and it was a friend of mine thought that's what I was suffering with when I first consulted my GP. I was also post menopausal but didn't suffer with any pain so I wasn't sure. (I'd heard it's incredibly painful.)
Hopefully some of the ladies here might be able to offer some advice. If not you could Ask a Nurse here on the forum (Just click on the link I've created) but you might need to wait a couple of days for a reply.
Take it easy and continue to heal.
Sending you gentle hugs, Barb xx

Hello Supercub - I had something similar to you. Some endometriosis was found on one of my ovaries, according to the histology results. I only learned about it from reading the histology report myself. It wasn’t mentioned by the surgeon or the oncologist. So I then assumed it was nothing to worry about. And being post-menopausal like you, I didn’t think it would be an issue. I have an appointment next week when I shall ask about it. Sorry if this isn’t very helpful for you, but I’ll come back with any further information after I speak to my consultant. Warm wishes to you xx
