Well ladies surgery confirmation date arrived and hubby, although he understands how important it is and current situation with Covid , is not too happy with date. It’s 16th December the day before our wedding anniversary and a week before Christmas. He’s not worrying about the anniversary he’s panicking about all the pre christmas stuff (bless him) Joy I usually put our tree up on our anniversary and start on Christmas cards, gift wrapping etc etc. I’m thinking that I’m probably going to have to deal with it all before I go to hospital, just in case they can’t do keyhole surgery and I’m in longer than anticipated. At least  it’ll give me something to do while I’m self isolating. I’ve got pre admission appointment on 30th November, then the dreaded Covid test three days before admission. So I’m now moving into the pre surgery waiting zone, hopefully it’ll be a less stressful waiting zone. Hope you’re all well and safe.

  • Hi Angie

I was just wondering if you've had a date yet so that's great news. Will make Christmas a bit strange, but that's the same for everyone I'm thinking. Also it'll be great for keeping your mind focussed somewhere else. The way your family have rallied round you'll be waited on hand and foot and you can take it very easy!

I've noticed Xmas trees are popping up in homes already when walking the dogs. I did mention to hubby and got a few strange looks. he doesn't do Xmas!!

Stay safe, not long now. BTW I had a Covid test on my Ruby Anniversary haha

    Big hugs, Barb xx

Hi Barb, Sounds like you’re doing well, bet it feels good to be able to walk the dogs. What is it with hospital appointments, tests etc and birthdays, anniversaries and such like. I’m wondering if it’s the little beggar trying to upset us even more, and failing miserably. At least this anniversary isn’t a major one, 43 years on 17th December.  I’m going to have a wee nosy in the online shops for some Christmas presents, it’s not as good as window shopping and stopping for lunch with my friend but it’ll have to do. You take care and stay safe.

    Hello,

Yes the time will be soon. I am day 2 of the isolation 2 weeks in prep.  Have a phone pre/op Monday and then  need to go for bloods...which they allow me out for that and to get test for covid. Mine is the 3rd. Had to preplan everything like food delivery,  picking up prescriptions,  vets all before. As for Xmas...who knows lol xx

  • Hi Angie,

It's great to hear you've got your date at last: it seems to have been a long wait. The next few weeks will whizz by, especially if you're busy planning Christmas and gift buying online.I'm sure your hubby will cope with getting Christmas done - following your directions :-)

Perhaps you can celebrate your anniversary a few days ahead this year? I was expecting a COVID test on my birthday, but this changed as I was referred to a different hospital. In the end I spent my 63rd meeting my gynaecologist and Macmillan CNS to discuss my treatment - not sure we've really celebrated since my op and with lockdown at the moment. A big party next year maybe!

    Take care,
    Dx

  • My surgery was on December 13th two years ago. I did all of my Christmas preparation beforehand and was able to have a family meal on Christmas Day as a guest. I would celebrate on whatever day you like! Hope it all goes well for you x

  • Great that you have an op date now . At least you can get all the pre Christmas preparations done while you isolate before your op, maybe give you something to occupy the mind too. Yes its very close to Christmas but i do hope its a good Christmas present for you and that its not too bad and you can enjoy Christmas with everyone and take the opportunity to be waited on too. I know I was happier once i had a op plan of action it really does help.

    Big hugs to you
