Hello Everyone
Firstly may I thank you all for your good wishes yesterday, it really did me the world of good - slightly thick head this morning!!
Today I saw my Oncologist and he went through all the details. My cancer was actually a Stage 1B and grade 3. ( I was initially told stage 1A grade 1 - but that before the CT scan results were available)
The tumour measured 4cm. The 6 lymph nodes were all clear, the score for LVSI was 0 (Lymph Vascular Space Invasion) the peritoneal washing however has revealed that I still have some malignant cells in my body. So I came down down to earth with a crash land! I am cancer free at the moment but only time will tell if the little buggers rear their ugly little heads again. As I'm fit and healthy with no underlying conditions fingers are firmly crossed. However I had my thyroid out in 2002 which might leave my immune system slightly compromised.
He's advised me to have 3 treatments of internal radiation (brachytheray) which should take place the last week of this month and first week in November. This should take my risk of getting it again down to about 6% I think he said which is ok for me. If I opted for external radiation as well that'd go down to 1%
So, onwards and upwards, I can't believe how quick our wonderful NHS are dealing with this!
Great big hugs to my lovely friends out there.
Barb xx
PS yesterday, when I was crying my eyes out, the other half said "what are you crying about, it's good news isn't it?" Nuff said, some men will never understand women!!

Hi Barb,
He's given you really good advice with the Radiotherapy & Brachy as some of those nasty little cells are still in your body & as you say only time would tell. The two treatments are not so bad & will give you a bit more peace of mind & as you are fit & healthy you will do great, I know this is coming back down with a bump but they have got your best interest at heart so as you say onwards & upwards.
Sorry you had a bit of a sore head this morning but glad that yesterday was a better day regardless, typical man response though but hey men never really understand women.
Big Hugs right back at Ya !!
Justine
Thanks Justine,
Barb xx

Dear Barb, I just read your news, and they have a plan, I understand your massive shock at being told there were still some cells in the peritonium. I see you left me some messages but I had troubleith this site while in hospital and I still can't find those messages to reply to.
anyway, I'm just home, struggling to get comfy lol but have my own private maid,
got my pathology follow up on 28th. I'm not going to worry about it til then but the surgeons were confident that they had it all. I reckon I could worry for 3 weeks and receive good news or not worry for 3 weeks and receive bad new or good news so may as well not worry-I hope I can live up to that! Sending big gentle hugs and hoping you're not doing too much
Love Nikki xx
MrsBJH, Barb sorry to hear about them pesky cancer cells in your peritoneal washing , hope the radiotherapy zaps them. As for men not understanding, hum i do wonder with them as many really don’t understand women do they? I know this news has brought you down with a bump but hopefully the bump is only temporary and that they clear them cells for you so that your much better. Onwards and upwards! Sending you a gentle hug

Hi Nikki
Good to hear you're safely home, make sure the maid keeps up with your wishes, no matter what they may be!
As for the worrying, that's human nature - just think the operation, that you were never expecting to have, is now behind you and despite the discomfort, nowhere near as bad as expected!
I've just got 4 more injections to do and then I can also cast off those blooming teds stockings as well!
Went for another nice walk today, not as long as yesterday so don't feel so knackered!
I had to restrain myself yesterday, I heard hubby telling his brother on the phone that he reckons his hip failure has come on as a result of having to ferry me backwards & forwards to hospital . Things in our household daily get worse! I give up!
Anyway, gentle hugs back, rest as much as possible - onwards & upwards!
Love, Barb xx

Thanks for your support GBear. Men definitely do not understand. I'm now being blamed for his hip problems, caused as a result of driving me backwards and forwards to the hospital! ( I overheard him telling his brother yesterday on the phone)
I'm feeling fine in myself now, a little apprehensive at what's to come but relatively calm - what I'll be like on the day is anyone's guess - lost all modesty a few weeks ago haha. Thank goodness I've still got a sense of humour.
Hugs to you, Barb xx

Hi Barb,
My goodness just goes to show how selfish someone can be blaming your hospital trips for his hip problems, considering the problem existed before all of this happened to you & that a Hip problem is painful but NOT a priority at the moment whereas you are. Sorry Barb but that that kind of attitude STINKS !!!! & you are probably right the attention is not on him & rightly so, you are the priority right now & maybe he just cannot handle that but make sure you take care of you, his issues will just have to wait !
Massive Hugs
