I am still experiencing the same stomach pains I had before my hysterectomy, which was 11 weeks ago.  Has anyone else experienced this please?

    Hi Georgie1,

I had some twinges & discomfort for weeks after surgery but lower down in the tummy not the stomach & I was told at the hospital to continue with painkillers as everything was still healing & it was perfectly normal. However if you feel that this is not right or has not been improving speak to your nurse & get some advise just to put your mind at rest.

  • Thank you for responding so quickly Just65.  I have spoken to my CNS but she made me feel a little foolish for asking.  When I said stomach it is lower down and more ijust above the pelvic area.  I am just feeling so low because I have had this pain since January.  Operation was delayed from April to July because of COVID and I am just worried that the cancer may have spread elsewhere.  My surgeon has not been in touch yet but I did receive a letter saying the ovaries, fallopian tubes and peritoneal washing was clear.  Sorry just feeling a little down today.

  • Hi ,

I did experience some stomach pain after for a while after my hysterectomy although never really was sure of the reason it seemed to ease off eventually. However anything like that you've done the right thing in asking your CNS although they didn't sound helpful to you or reassuring. I wonder if it maybe worth speaking to your GP as it may well not be related to the surgery and the cancer and at least then you can explain it to them, alright I know that its a lot of messing trying to arrange telephone consultation with your Gp but it maybe worth it for your own reassurances.

    Gentle hug your way

    Hi Georgie1,

I understand Georgie & I am glad you spoke to your nurse, do not feel foolish maybe she was being a bit insensitive it's your body & you are going to feel low after everything you have been through but it will get better ! Total recovery takes 12 weeks as this is major surgery so don't be too hard on yourself, make sure you are still resting & not over doing things & yes COVID has messed things up big time, glad to hear the letter said that other areas are clear this is good news & I know the worry still goes on at the moment but you are doing great just don't push yourself too hard & low days will come & go but you WILL get there.

  • I had my surgery in December 2018 and still have pain. I mentioned it at every check up but no one really explained why. Due to Covid 19 I’ve not had any contact from the hospital. I’ve seen my GP recently and am waiting for an abdominal ultrasound. Think my GP has asked for that as my liver enzyme levels are raised. I’m trying not to worry but we’ll see. Your body takes a long time to heal. My nurse said the first year is the worst... you have to accept you’re in this for the long haul. Take care x

    Hi Galanthophile,

I'm sorry you are still having a rough time, I agree it's time for the hospital to get better organised regarding getting you an Ultrasound sorted & yes the body takes a long time to recover. I myself still get some twinges & aches & a few days where I feel shattered but they normally pass but running around like I used to is not something I can do at the moment' it is a long haul & we have to accept things as they are for the moment but I really do hope you get to see someone soon & get some answers so your recovery can move forward even more. Let us know how things go.

  • Hi Galanthophile,  Thank you for replying.  Guess I will have to be patient.  Good luck with your ultrasound, I hope everything turns out to be ok xx
