Hi all
I got the results of my histeroscopy biopsies last Tuesday, Serous Carcinoma, had a CT scan yesterday, the team will be discussing my case tomorrow. I'm wondering how long I might have to wait for surgery if its just confined to my womb. I don't know the grade or stage yet but understand surgery is always first line of action. I'm with York hospital, not had any contact with a cancer care nurse yet. This waiting is hard!
Hi PicNik,
Sorry you find yourself here. It sounds as if they are moving fairly quickly. I think I was given a date about a month after my scans. They suddenly sent for me to have a pre op and chest X ray after a fortnight because they had a free slot. That was then changed because they had an emergency and I had to wait another 2 weeks. My Grade was 2 and Stage 1A. I would get a bag packed just in case. Mine wasn't. I had no decent nightie, no pads and I had a panic. I have the impression they might slot you in anywhere!!!
Good Luck xxxxxx
I am having a hysterectomy for complex atypical hyperplasia, which is treated under the 2WW pathway as suspected cancer until they prove otherwise with post-op histology. My op has been scheduled 4 weeks from date i was told my diagnosis. I had MRI scan a week ago and had pre-op and done all the consent forms. So I won't know the final diagnosis for another month or so. The waiting and uncertainty is the hardest part.
I've been to Sainsbury's today - great choice of nighties with some in the sale. I also got some big comfy knickers from M&S and sanitary towels. Hopefully my last ones!
Good luck for your op xx
Oh gosh so that is reasonably quick. I wonder why they do MRI as opposed to CT scan. Good luck with your op and recovery, I hope all goes well and thank you for your reply x
I'm unsure why/when different scans are used. I did read somewhere but cannot remember. I was told the MRI would help them plan my surgery as hopefully will be keyhole.
The NHS target is for patients to start treatment within 31 days of the decision to treat, so plan for that and as NannyAnny says get ready in case you are offered a cancellation slot sooner. x
Hello PicNik,
So sorry to hear about your diagnosis you've just received, but welcome to our little corner of the community the ladies here as you will already see are very supportive and will help with their experiences as best as possible and lots of virtual hugs to go around. The thing us even with different stages and diagnosis there is lots of combined knowledge to be shared.
Everything seemed like a whirlwind when I was diagnosed but it was about a month after diagnosis of womb cancer that I had a total hysterectomy. I was stage 1a grade 2 but had no other treatment. Waiting is without doubt a difficult part to deal with on top of the diagnosis because you feel its an even longer wait but once things are in motion then its surprising how quickly things move. About a month from diagnosis seems to be about average for everyone to of started their treatments. Hopefully you will get your plan of action sort of speak very soon
Sending you a gentle hug

Hi GBear
Thank you so much for your message, I had a call from the cancer nurse today and she gave me an appointment for tomorrow with the surgeon. He goes on holiday then for 2 weeks. What kind of cancer cells was your grading and staging for and have you recovered from your op now? Gentle hug back x
I healed very well from the operation thank you, although I have other underlying heath issues that have hampered my recovery, and its possible they have put a strain on things as my immunity is effected now, but my hysterectomy scar which wasn't huge because my surgery was as I put half and half because they mostly keyhole but had to cut into my bellybutton to remove everything because my womb was bulky but because most of the scaring is inside I don't have much on the outside. My stage was 1a which meant it was fully contained in the womb my grade was 2 and although some same stage have had radiotherapy as aswell it was decided not to do it and save it for a possible reaccurrance in the same area. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow PicNik.

Hi PicNikjust wanted to say hello and welcome. I’m another serous lady - diagnosed 2016 with high grade serous endometrial adenocarcinoma. I was staged at 3c1 after the hysterectomy. Mine was confined to a polyp in the womb so hadn’t spread to the tubes, ovaries or cervix but the histology showed the cancer had somehow jumped into a single pesky lymph node, which meant I needed chemo and radiotherapy. Hope fully you won’t have to wait too long for surgery. My top tips would be to buy big girl pants at least 2 sizes bigger to accommodate the post op swelling and also take on a small towel which you can fold up and hold against your tummy for support when you cough, stand etc. Fill your freezer with easy meals and get any housework done that you need to do. Treat yourself to those books/dvds etc you’ve been meaning to read/watch and above all be kind to yourself throughout. Sending you lots of good wishes x
