I've recently been diagnosed with endometrisl cancer and im waiting for my mri results but after researching a bit I started getting confused about life expectancy and the % part made it even more confusing when I came across it.
5 year seemed to be referred to a lot and now its made me think that if your diagnosed with this type of cancer does ot mean that you will have up to 5 years to live?
I apologise if I come across a bit thick but there doesn't seem to be anything out there about the life expectancy on the cancers when its graded
No your not thick at all , generally the five years that gets quoted a lot is the time where your most likely to get a reaccurrance and you are normally monitored for this time period whether that be regular check ups face to face or calls by your team to check on you or you maybe asked to phone any new symptoms etc. But its easy to get worried when you so researching information on Dr Google as we put it as often information is not fully explained or is wrong or out of date and can increase what is already a stressful time. Here at least you get real hands on experience and knowledge gained from people going though it, gone though etc. Obviously everything depends on our stage and treatment and our consultants way of doing things too. For example with me I was stage 1a grade 2 I had a total hysterectomy I then was on 3monthly checks the first 2 years then it went to 6 monthly checks. My last check up was June over the phone and then I was suppose to go on what they call patient led check ups where I contact them with any new symptoms or concerns. Of course I should of had a face to face where they do an internal examination to check everything is OK but with covid-19 this changed to a telephone call and I got the impression that they may ask me to come in later this year for a face to face if they want. I have other underlying issues which have unfortunately complicated the situation. But I am happy with the care I have received from my gynae oncologist team. I hope this gives you some reassurances.
Sending you some supportive hugs

Thankyou GBear for replying to both my group msgs im new at this so I wasn't sure if I posted it properly on my other group question so I renamed it in the other one to be sure that it was def posted.
You have put my mind at ease a bit because over thinking is such a waste but its not something anyone has control over at a time like these.
Im sitting on my sofa phone watching at the moment waiting for the dreaded call about the grade from my mri.
Take care GBear and thankyou again.

Hi debzi,
I think that after 5 years post cancer treatment you have as much chance of cancer as anyone else in the population. They will never say that you are cured, because they can't say for definite that you are. It does not mean that you will only live for 5 years!!
My husband had throat cancer 13 years ago, my daughter had breast cancer 6 years ago, and I had womb cancer 3 years ago. I have learnt that it all depends when they catch it, and how they can sort it, and how fit you are to start with. And some cancers are easier to sort out than others. Endometrial cancer is one of the easier ones to treat. xxxxx
Thankyou NannyAnny
What a few years you have had! I wish there was a magic wand to wave but there isn't.
My oncologist did say that if there was a cancer ypu had to choose then womb cancer would be the one you would want which sounded very strange at the time of my diagnosis.
Thankyou for your kind words and I wish you and your family well.
