Hi,
I have recently been diagnosed with endometrial cancer - 6 days ago and want to say hi folks. I went in for a polypectomy on the 17th August after a few months of some vaginal bleeding. The surgeon said he was 95% sure it was just a polyp so I didn't worry and didn't even think about cancer. When I came round from the op he said it was not a polyp but either hyperplasia or cancer. Obviously waiting for results is the worse as lots of people say on here. So I am now waiting for an appt with a consultant which should be this Weds or Thurs and am booked in for an MRI on Friday this week.
I have been in touch with the Macmillan nurses who have been helpful in my darkest times. Luckily I have great friends and a supportive husband and I have told lots of people.
Of course since my diagnosis I have had period like pains and now think that the cancer has spread everywhere. The not knowing is so hard isn't it? Hopefully this time next week I'll know more.
To top it all my son (only child) is going to University this week and I' won't be able to go and see him off. I know this is not really important and we can facetime etc. It's disappointing but I'll go and see him after the hysterectomy.
I'm trying to keep busy with writing a small list of things to do at the beginning of the day. Taking each day as it comes. But sometimes it overwhelms you doesn't it?
My main worries are that it's spread and not been caught early. Who knows what is early though?? I guess the MRI machine will!
Did others have period pains when diagnosed?
Anyway thanks for 'listening' x
Hi Chirpybirds,
Welcome to the forum, although no one really wants to be here!
Three years ago I was where you are now! I have no idea how long the cancer was in there before I had a show of blood. All I know is I couldn't have got to the doctor any quicker, so I did all I could. I think the period pains may well be imagination, and you will be much better once you know the results.
I well remember seeing my eldest off to Uni. I had to fight to hold back the tears!!! Silly, I know. Its the best thing for them to learn to stand on their own feet.
All the best xxxx
Greetings Chirpybirds
In answer to your question; no, l didnt experience any period pains at all prior to or after being diagnosed with womb cancer, just bleeding initially and then a pink watery discharge.
However whilst waiting for my op l had imagined the cancer had spread and my imagination had run riot by the time l got to have the op. Totally understandable, l think. But in my case it hasn't spread at all and nor did l die of coronavirus. I have to say that in the hospital l was in l felt completely safe, even back in april at its peak.
So l wish you well and hope that you will be ok, at least your appointments are relatively soon, good luck x
Hello and welcome. I’m sure you’d rather not be here, but it’s a good place to wait, to chat things through, to find information and generally lots of support. I’d just like to offer you some reassurance - If womb cancer is caught early then there’s every chance a hysterectomy will be the only treatment needed. Womb cancer is one of the slowest growing types from what I’ve read.. I think we all imagine some alien type being spreading like wildfire but from what I’ve read elsewhere on here, that’s very far from reality. Your appointment with the consultant, plus all the tests and scans will hopefully tell you a lot more. Until then I’d say try not to let your imagination run away with you. Keeping busy is a good way of keeping your mind occupied, so yes, having a “top do” list for each day is a good thing to do. I know it’s hard, especially with current restrictions, but a good walk in the fresh air often helps clear the brain. Lots of us here craft (I knit), or paint, some meditate, others pray (me included), some use mindfulness techniques. It’s good that you have lots of support at home, I’m sure that helps a lot. I hope all goes well for you at your appointment. Please let us know how it goes.
Hi Chirpybirds,
I am Sorry you are here. None of us want/expect to be in situations like this. I had similar issues prior to being diagnosed with EC. I had my Hysterectomy 4 days ago and so far I am doing good. I haven’t taken any of pain medications since the day I got discharged. I am thankful for that. This group and its members are awesome in helping me easing my anxiety when I first joined. If you want to ask me questions I would love to answer if I can.
Hello a very warm welcome from me too, i am sorry you have the rollacoster ride of the diagnosis and with appointments this week i send my best wishes. Congratulations for your eldest going to university who will be very well settled in when you are able to go and visit. I am a fellow crafter and artist i love painting, i even set up a thread here in the group “ the womb girls arts and crafts” if you want to pop over and maybe if you wish to contribute in the thread. To answer the question you had about if you had period pains before diagnosed. It was complex for me as i was just before my 38th birthday when i was diagnosed but what i did have was intermittent bleeding and sharp pain I didn’t normally get. I was hospitalised in the march 2017 but it was early June of that year when I got the diagnosis and I was stage 1a grade2 only a hysterectomy as treatment. Treatment maybe individual but there is certainly a wealth of knowledge here so i am sure you will find lots of shared experience This may not be the club you want to join nor ever except to join but its still a warm and welcoming place. Sending you a gentle hug and for your upcoming appointments

Hi Chirpybirds,
Just wondering how you are doing ?
This is an awful time wondering & waiting for results but we are all here to help you through this. I too had period like pains on & off during the diagnosis period & like you I imagined all sorts of things were going on Inside, but once they confirmed the diagnosis & treatment I managed to cope with it much better. I was taking Ibuprofen with Paracetamol which got rid of the pain until my surgery & then all the Period like pains stopped.
Try & take it a day at a time, I know this is very hard right now but given the circumstances this is really the only option without sending yourself mad !! Please keep talking & asking questions as much as you like, it really does help & everyone on here including myself have been exactly where you are right now & are here to help.
Love & Hugs xx
Hi Just65,
Thank you so much for your message - it is really helpful. I'm ok ish thanks. As you say taking each day as it comes is the way to go. I had the MRI yesterday so that is another hurdle over with! I've got a face to face appointment with a consultant on Weds. I spoke to him last week and he was reassuring as much as he could be I guess and, yes, said all the other aches and pains don't mean it has spread! It's been a difficult week as my son (only child) has moved up to Leeds as he has a place at the college of music. He went yesterday with my hubby after the MRI so a fun packed day!! I decided not to go as I need to shield I guess in case hysterectomy is soon but also couldn't cope with the trauma of saying goodbye! Anyway, it's a nice day here today so will potter about at home and go for a walk. Have a good weekend and thanks for getting in touch xx
