Living after cancer counseling feedback

Hi Ladies, thought I'd share my experience of this counseling. Previously I was advised not to have counseling because my response to the cancer diagnosis' and after effects have been has been quite traumatic and I my GP thinks I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  However I am attending the group sessions and I have found the strategies suggested for dealing with fatigue, uncertainty, worries very useful and it has given me things to think about. Also meeting other cancer survivors has been supportive, I'm the only attendee who has had womb cancer but listening to their journeys we all have similar (and the same) thoughts and fears.  I'm due for my 6 month post recurrence check up,  and I'm hoping, fingers crossed, I can manage to stay in remission past the 6 month mark.  I'm feeling good, trying to stay positive and trying out the strategies so hopefully I have taken some positives from the sessions. Take care XXX Dawn

  • Thanks for sharing Dawn. It sounds like you are making great strides with your coping strategies. Sending lots of hugs xx.

  • It’s always good to talk to other people who know what you’ve been through. I had telephone counselling arranged through work but it was just general chat. Face to face sessions with other cancer sufferers was a relief and really humbling to hear other people’s experiences and coping strategies
