Hi. I had a tumor on my urethra in 2012 and have been dealing with the radiation damage which has continued to get worse over the years, burning and itching. I'm 82 now and had a needle biopsy in 2022 showing vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (high Grade VIN, simplex type). My Oncologist advised me that a full biopsy may not heal so put me on imoquin. I used it off and on for several months as I couldn't tolerate it as often as recommended. I have a lot of pain and burning in my vulva now and an area that feels like a hard bump, perhaps in the area of the needle biopsy. My Oncologist says it doesn't look like any cancer she has seen but is willing to hospitalize me and take a biopsy. A uro/gyn doctor thinks it may just be more radiation changes. I'm concerned if it's cancer, what options do I have. I don't think I want a flap from all the horror stories I've read about. I would like to hear from others who have had radiation damage and surgery years later.
Hello Snooksmd
I am Brian, one of the Community Champions here on the online Community. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. I can't answer it myself as I have a different cancer, however by me replying it will be "bumped up" to the top of the page and I hope seen and answered by other members of the group.
I do hope you get some answers to your question and are able to move forward.
Best wishes - Brian.
