Vulval cancer

Hello Minimises, so sorry to hear that.  I had my op in 2023 when I was 73 and also had bilateral lymph nodes removed.  I didn’t develop lymphoedema but did have slight swelling on one side, fluid was removed and it was clear.  I haven’t had any further problems due to them being removed.

Thank you for replying and assuring me of the hopeful outcome of my surgery.  I am having lymph nodes removed from both side of my groin.  I am very fit and active and 77 years old.  I just  hope I can regain this as soon as I can.  So worried that I will become an invalid. 

Hi again, yes it is worrying.  All the difficulties I was worrying about never happened,  yes, I also had lymph nodes removed from both sides.  I had a check up last week and all my worries were alleviated.  Vulva area still clear, groin area ok.  No swelling in legs.

Thats given me hope that I will be ok.  Thank you.  I have an MRI scan on Monday on my liver.  They think it is a cyst and I’m hopeful they’re right.  Onwards and upwards.  Anything must be better than the pain I have sometimes.  Think the painkillers are making me feel a little wobbly.

Hi I know how you feel. I had 7 groin lymph nodes removed in March 2026, 5 on right, 2 on left. I had swelling on right side & surgeon removed fluid with a big needle, no pain. They were uncomfortable for about 10 weeks and still a bit tender now and then. No Lymphodema yet. I twiddle my toes around & up & down when lying on sofa & in bed. Exercising your ankles twisting around helps me, I think. I like walking, so hopefully that helps too. Even though I can't do the long walks yet as still painful where WLE cut. Slower recovery than I hoped. Got to be patient. Hope all goes well. Plenty of water. Good luck. 

Sorry I didn’t get back to you.  It’s been a learning curve. Surgery went well and as well as vulvectomy they removed 15 lymph nodes from both sides.  One on right was cancerous and cells broke free.  I have to have radiotherapy for five weeks (25) and two weeks on side with cancer node.  Have had horrendous issues with leaky groins and the left side is still oozing.  Due to start radiotherapy in two weeks.  Any tips

So sorry to hear this.  I didn’t need any further treatment but can imagine how hard it must be for you.  I cannot give any tips but am sure other ladies on here are empathising with you and will give you tips on what they experienced.  All I can do is send you love and hugs and moral support.  xx
