Hi I just found this group and I am grateful. It seems difficult to find a group that discusses vaginal cancer.

I have been diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma VAIN2-3, lymphocapillary invasion. 25 days of Radiation external and 3 internal + chemo 6xs. I’m am at day 15.
mat this point my stomach is all over the place. Sometimes I don’t know if I have to pee, poop, throw up or eat. My team of drs has been good in helping with meds and suggestions to help. I’m wondering if anyone else has had the same issues?

  • Hi  and welcome to the group.

Gosh, I remember feeling exactly the same at this point in my treatment, so you have my sympathy!

I didn’t have the same diagnosis, as mine was cervical cancer, but I have been through a similar regime in terms of external radiotherapy and chemo. I found the radiotherapy the hardest treatment to deal with in terms of fatigue and bladder and bowel issues. You didn’t say what chemo you are having? Mine was Cisplatin, but I’m not sure if yours might be different?

What I can say is that for me the whole pee or poop side effects cleared up very soon after the treatment ended, so I hope it will be the same for you. Once these things calmed dow, they didn’t come back.

I’m glad you’re getting medication to help-I would always advise ladies to let their doctors know of anything that’s giving them issues, as there is normally a pill or potion to help. Are you finding the medications are helping in your case? Particularly with anti sickness medication there are a number of different things they can try if something doesn’t suit you-it’s definitely not one size fits all with this!

You’re over the half way point of your treatment schedule, so it’s a count down to the end now. I have to admit I was finding it quite tough at this point but once you’re finished it feels so good to have got through it all.

Let us know if there’s anything else you want to ask about or just keep in touch to let us know how you’re getting on. It’s really good for ladies new to the group to read of others’ experiences. I hope the rest of your treatment plan goes smoothly for you.

Thank you for answering. Yes Cisplatin is what I am getting. Lots of Nausea but they say no hair loss.  I also have a lightheaded feeling a lot of the time. I think I have to eat more.
i will reach out to my Dr - the 8 hr nausea pills are not working well. The 6 hr ones are barely working.

  • Hi

Yes, Cisplatin doesn’t normally cause any hair loss. But definitely let your doctor know that you are suffering from a great deal of nausea and it may be possible to try some different anti sickness drugs. It can be difficult to have much of an appetite while you’re on treatment but even small amounts of something you like can be helpful in maintaining your current weight.

I hope you can find some medication which helps.
