I have recently been diagnosed with TNBC stage 3 with one lymph node involvement. My chemo begins on 8th June has anybody tried the cooling cap and what we’re your experiences? My specialist nurse has said to try it. During chemo she said to bring a blanket as I might get cold.
After your first chemo when did the side effects kick in and what were your experiences? I know they give you all sorts of medication to help. But to be honest it’s all a mine field.
Hi Lebs I am following the answers here. Mine starts on 20 something. I have similar to you but grade 2. I will ask my friend about tips as she has just gone through all this and is out the other side successfully. I think there is also a section on the main page or in the treatment section. I hope all goes well for you. It's a weird time isn't it. I feel a bit fraudulent going about my business and not feeling poorly yet. Lots of love
Hi Lebs
Welcome and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with TNBC stage 3 with lymph node involvement. I was diagnosed last September with the exact same type of Breast Cancer as you.
I had very few side effects but those I did have kicked in approximately 5 days after my chemo cycle. They were also very mild so I hardly needed to take the medications they gave me. The main side effect I had was fatigue. I didn't bother with the cold cap and I also didn't bother with a wig. My hair started to fall out the day after my second cycle of AC so my mother shaved my head completely so that I wouldn't have bald patches. It was a shock at first but I soon got used to it, it's a small price to pay for getting better. I wore turbans whenever I went out.
They may have mentioned about using a mouth wash to rinse out your mouth everyday during chemo to prevent mouth sores. What I did was put half a teaspoon of salt in a half a cup of hot water topped up with cold water and used that to rinse out my mouth soI didn't have any mouth problems.
Wishing you the best of luck with your treatments and if you have any questions I'm happy to answer them. I'm on this forum on a regular basis.
Best wishes
Daisy
Thank you for your help. I had completely forgotten about the mouth wash, great idea the salt mouth wash I’ll certainly take this on board.
My cancer is in the left breast on the outer side. Since having the biopsies I get only what I can describe as needle pricks and it a bit sore is this normal?
best wishes

Hi Cheesewell, good luck for the 20th. I know exactly what you mean yes we have cancer but don’t feel I’ll. However, I do get tired already and a bit sore.
im going to follow the professionals advice and be a good patient lol. I’ll be honest it hasn’t all hit home yet.

Hi there , I was diagnosed with TNBC grade 3 11 months ago, I completely understand how scared you all must feel , it sure is a whirlwind & very hard to take it all in . I had 8 sessions of c over 21 weeks , then I had a lumpectomy then 5 intensive sessions of radiotherapy. I won’t lie it was hard , in the words of my oncologist “it’s fucking gruesome but do-able” and he was righthe meds are brilliant at controlling the sickness but the fatigue is overwhelming, the sore mouth is nasty especially if you get ulcers but again the sprays & mouth washes really do help . Illy feel for you all on here that have just but diagnosed, but please try and take 1day at a time and don’t think too far ahead , keep positive as I’m sure that’s what helped me through all meatment, yes you will have bad days that goes without saying but there is light at the end . I’m not feeling great , I’m back to work part time and I finally have my hair back albeit it’s gred very short , but hey I’m alive and that’s what matters . So whoever reads this I send you my best and healing thoughts . Keep strong and remember it’s DO-ABLE
Love Elaine Xx

Hi Elaine
Thanks for your advice. Like you it’s best to take one day at a time and try not to overthink. I’m positive I have a goal in March/April next year off to a Florida for 3 months to recuperate with my daughter.
