Great news and a plan at last

Oncology appointment yesterday. I had my CT scan results and no sign of anything else anywhere other than breast and lymph nodes. I also had a titanium coil fitted.

Treatment plan is once every 21 days Carboplatin and Docetaxel. I will also be receiving Zoledronic acid throughout and for 3 to 5 years . This is supposed to combat reoccurrence and has been found particular successful for women who have gone through menopause.

I had all these questions and asked about trials but they told me they just want to focus on treatment they know works for me. I feel very confident as the oncologist said I will be for and well again this time next year. They are confident it will work.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this combo and of you have any tips. I have already got info on the side effects which are pretty generic.

Also the Zoledronic acid can cause Osteonecrosis of the jaw so this bloody dentist appointment on Monday is more important than ever. This trip is going to be the hardest of all. Wish me luck.

Enjoy your weekend all.

  • Hi. Thank you.

How is it going for you?

  • Hi

It's going ok so far thanks for asking. Apart from fatigue I'm having no side effects at all either from; the radiotherapy nor the chemo tablets.

    Best wishes

  • Hi

That is great. You are in your way. So glad there weren't too many side effects.

Ive had a nightmare. The dental appointment was cancelled by the dentist. We tried everywhere to get a private appointment. No NHS until August. So I had to go private. I had a check up on Thursday. Friday I had a tooth extraction and a first stage root canal. My whole bottom lip was numb. Had the MRI with contrast that afternoon. I dribbled all over the machine and fell asleep in it. Woke myself snoring.

Yesterday went back for the completion of the root canal and need a couple of fillings. £2650 later I am ready to start treatment in 2/3 weeks.

I think I may start a new thread with this one.

Hope your treatment continues to be good for you.

  • Hi Heidi

Thanks. I had my last radiotherapy session this afternoon. It was a every emotional moment when I finished.

Sorry to hear that your dentist cancelled on you and you had to go private to get your root canal and tooth out.

Hope things to well with your treatment when you start it.

    Best wishes
