i am not looking forward to 3-5 days of being in isolation

  • Hi Woofles

Thank you so much for the info it really helps, I am in for three nights think I might be having quite a high dose or that was what I was told.  I had the first thyrogen this morning and it's wiped me out which was a surprise, then in Friday, funnily enough at this point I feel the worst thing that could happen is that it gets cancelled I am quite prepped to get it done and to get on with my life.

A few people have mentioned that they had reactions a few weeks after which is good to know so I won't be freaked out if that happens, I do hope that your symptoms are short lived and your results are good, the waiting is hard.

So interesting about the charger, so they check everything before you leave then

I really appreciate you responding to me, it's all quite overwhelming

  • Hi  Daisy7 I have just had my second round of RAI at the high dose and have been fine.  I was worried because it was higher than the first dose, but needn't have worried as if anything I have felt better.  My first round I had a headache for a few days after returning home and a couple of days where my tummy was off it, then had some swelling around my thryroid area but nothing too bad.  This time with the higher dose I thought my salivary glands were starting to swell the first night, just kept drinking water, massaging and eating some lemon which made me cringe, but by morning it seemed better and nothing since.  Headache one day after coming home but no tummy upset or anything.  Hope yours goes smoothly too x

  • Thank you, all very reassuring, I had the first thyrogen today and was shocked at how that has affected me, I thought it would be nothing but I am exhausted with nausea and a headache, just keep telling myself it will all be over soon.

    Thank you again X

  • Sorry to hear that @Daisy7 some people do react to the Thyrogen injections unfortunately.

  • They will take such good care of you! Everyone was lovely. They also give you anti-nausea meds while you’re in and can give more if you feel anything. They can give painkillers and steroids for swelling or any other symptoms you have. They said to ask for medication as soon as we felt anything. The woman next door to me had a higher dose and they checked extra on her and gave her additional anti-nausea meds.

I didn’t know what to expect but it was fine. I felt very looked after. Post if you’re bored!
