Hi all,
Was just wondering on people's views about having a prosthetic testicle put in when having one removed?
Tom's surgery is on 3rd October, and he's undecided about whether to have one put in or not. He really doesn't want to have more surgery after this one (he's also having lymph nodes removed, so quite big surgery) so if he doesn't get it now, I don't think he'll get one at all. Popping one in at a later date isn't really an option.
Has anyone had one put in? Has anyone not had one put it? I've heard that if you don't the remaining testicle balances out, but wouldn't it feel a bit strange just having one? Although I thought that some men look like that only have one anyway??
Sorry for rambling, just trying to help my hubby decide what to do. I don't mind either way, its down to him, he's so undecided he's even put a poll on his facebook page!!!
thanks in advance :)

Hello all, even though it was explained I could have a prosthetic testicle inserted many years ago if I changed my mind in my area of Bournemouth its no longer available unfortunately, to be totally honest if I dont do anything its going to bug me to my dying days so I have opted to go private and have it done this Wednesday coming, it cost me ÂŁ175 for the initial consultation and ÂŁ2175 for the operation, I did have various checks done, swabs taken and blood tests which was in the price.
Will be interesting, what will be my thoughts after the event ? I `ll post back at some point soon.

Hi Metalman,
Good luck with the op. Be prepared for it to ride a little high for a while and you may find it stitched to the scrotum so dont tug at it or anything. They do that for a reason. Do you know the brand you’re getting and size? I have to say mine looked superb for the short time I had the prosthetic but unfortunately it felt far too big for me and I had it out after 2 weeks. Hopefully you’ll have had a good consultation and input now you’ve gone private. By the way £2175 is a very good price, definitely worth giving it a go as like you said you’ll never know otherwise.
Thanks,
Paul
Hello Paul, I am unaware of the brand, I guess that was something I should of asked, I will certainly find, if I do run into problems it could be well worth knowing.
The consultant was not sure on size, he explained it could be small to medium but will not know until the operation.Â
You mention it is stitched to the scrotum and do that for a reason, why is that ? I thought it would be stitched elsewhere.
Thanks
As far as I know its stitched inside to stop it moving up into ur inguinal canal. I think in circumstances such as going down a water slide or something like that it could in theory slide up there. I dont know if the stitches are permanent but you should definitely ask your surgeon as you’ll be fiddling with it after and its better to know if thats how it should be. If i had the choice i would go for medium or small since it can chafe on your leg if its too big or get in the way when trying to sleep laying on your front. Saying that though, from what I’ve read online they usually settle down after a few months and feel very natural and thats what I was told by my urologist. Do you know if they are gonna put u under for it? I would’ve thought they could do it under a local rather than general anaesthetic as mine was removed through the scrotum with me awake throughout the procedure. Didnt feel a thing.
Thanks
Paul
Hello Paul, as far as I know I will be under a general anaesthetic, I`ll ask a few more questions on the day, Like I say I have never had 2 testicles in the scrotum so its going to be quite an interesting experience, will it makes a difference to my thought pattern ? will it change the way I have been feeling or maybe it will be too much of a change after all these years and its something I may want to revert, I`ll keep this thread updated.
ThanksÂ
Hi Clair
This is indeed a difficult thing to decide, however, clinicians would probably say to delay having a prosthesis as the operation to have one place in the future is far smaller and also does not go through the same scar.
We find at the time of surgery there is a lot of swelling and risk of infection, and the prosthesis can cause extra trauma.
Secondly, if Tom is very active, running, cycling etc, prosthesis can be achy and need to be removed at a later date. Again this is a smaller operation but we normally advise to delay until you are certain this is want is wanted.
Hope you have found this useful and if you want to ask anything further, please do
Hello just an update to say I had the operation yesterday, in all honesty totally disappointed so far!
Shortly after I come around I had a look and it was very clear to see the right testicle was so much very smaller than the original left side, if anything it looked worst because now it was showing one very very and one much larger!
My wife had a closer look and fully agreed with me, later when the surgeon come around I explained my disappointment and he explained he did measure the left original testicle and the prosthetic was a similar match in size, the thing is the original side is obviously bigger due to all the veins and other tendons or whatever else is naturally there so generally it will appear much bigger that side, I would of thought the surgeon should of realised this and increased the size of the right testicle to compensate for this ? seems obvious to me and my wife ? this way I would of had a more cosmetic symmetrical scrotum which was more important to me.
I guess there is not much I can do now ? is there a complaints department with these type of issues ?
All in all very dissapointed
I thought I would post just to make anyone reading this post that having a larger prosthetic testicle could be a much better option.
Best regards to all
Hi mate,Â
I have read on a few forums and a few people have said that prosthetic is very noticeable and different from the real one. I just wanted to know how real does it feel?
I am 22 and was born with 1 dead testicle in my leftt sack. Its tiny ! And for me it doesn't feel right and is defiantly effecting my sex life! For me I 100% want it done for extra confidence etc there's just a few comments that are doubting my decision on the look and feel of the prosthetic can you help me !Â
Anyone feedback would be very helpfull!
ve got a prosthetic and its great. The on-line posts are a little skewed as people are more likely to post cautionary negative reports than positive ones. Go for it, and if you don't get on with it you can have it taken out again.
