Hi everyone,

I am 39 years old female, was diagnosed with stomach cancer day before yesterday. I am worried about the wait time. I have a EUS scan on Wednesday next week, and waiting for PET scan before the doctors can tell me treatment plan.

Can someone lete know what the waiting time has been like?

Thank you

  • Hi, I’m sorry to hear your news, I didn’t have a PET scan, I hope you don’t have to wait too long for this. Your team will look after you, it’s a frightening time for you but try and look forward, many people people here will give you support and advice a long the way. Take care

  • So sorry to hear about your diagnosis! This is absolutely the worst time, as you don’t know what you’re dealing with! The medical team do all the tests that give them the information they need to decide on the treatment plan. In my case it took about four weeks and I still remember how terrified I was! I focused on things I could control..my physical and mental health.

I walked and went swimming.. so exercise if you can..this is preparing your body for the treatment it will have to go through to get rid of the cancer.  Eating really well.. I focused on high protein foods to build my strength.
I used the Headspace app to practice mindfulness to manage my anxiety, especially at night.
And hold on to hope.. you will get through this! I was diagnosed seven years ago today and now live a normal life, eating and drinking much as before!
Do use this group, there are lots of positive experiences which people will share!
    Good luck!
