in the past 3 weeks - the goal was to get him stronger so his body could handle 5 weeks of M-F radiation & at home chemo treatment via pills.

His treatment date has not been confirmed due to his lack of getting stronger

He has had 5 iron infusions, projectile vomit every night until last night, continues to lose weight and color in his skin

100% liquid diet

He's sleeping more hours than awake, and no longer has energy or strength to ride the exercise bike at any pace for any amount of minutes or seconds

no precursors of medical issues, he has never had an operation or been in a hospital as a patient until this diagnosis

This morning he complained of stomach and bowels hurting - was able to go the bathroom

Drs said it would normally be classed as stage 4, but thinking they can kill the spread so calling it stsge 3 - this just doesn't sound right

I've read that the tumor has a stage indicator  & the cancer has a stage indicator - does anyone confer with this?

My step mom provides information after appointments and I am not included in appointments so cannot ask questions of oncologist

He has had 3 radiation simulation appts to prep for when (if) he can start treatment

Is this anyone elses experience?

looking to learn and be educated from the sideline

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I had a different type of cancer to your dad so I don't know if the experience you're dad has had is normal or not. However, I noticed that no one had popped on to share their experiences with you and replying to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list where hopefully it'll be seen by someone with the necessary experience.

If you don't get any replies you could post your questions in the ask a nurse section of the online community and one of the specialist nurse will aim to respond within 3 working days.
