Hi,
My 39 year old wife has recently returned home from hospital having had a partial Gastrectomy. She is now required to have Chemotherapy. Has anyone been through this that can advise - what meds to avoid, what to expect etc..?
Also, since her operation, she has really bad dry skin on her feet, arms and face. Can anyone recommend a good cream to use?
Many thanks for your help.
Hi, sorry we don't log in too often. She hasn't had pre-op chemo because initially she was diagnosed with stage 1 and after the results form the lab, it was actually stage 3, hence the Chemo.
Sounds pretty similar to me.....I was initially diagnosed as Stage 2, opted for chemo first, then found it was Stage 3 after the op. In my case they said the chemo hadn’t been very effective and advised against post-op, but I went thru it anyway. For reference I had FLOT both pre and post op
Hi, I don't log in very often either, just saw this. Hydration is the most important thing with post op chemo, because it can be harder to get enough fluid without a stomach or with only part of a stomach. My dad had to work really hard to drink small amounts of water during the day because hydration during chemo is so important. My dad found natural oils and butters like shea butter really helped his skin which suffered from the 5-FU.
