Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I have had Mohs and a full thickness skin graft by my nose running into my eye 10 days ago at St Helens.

I had no dressings just chloramphenicol ointment and had a wound check at one week which was extremely quick with a nurse in the dressing clinic and was told I will need to return this week to check the wound again. I will not see a doctor until 3 months time.

I am concerned as to what may be going on with my graft as 2 days ago when I had a shower lumps of skin seemed to have fallen off the site leaving craters of red raw skin that  are still actively bleeding.

Is this all sounding normal? Any advice much appreciated.

  • Hi Mohsatlast I think we have spoken before in this thread. I'm not sure if that is simply the healing process ongoing or something else happening. I note from your post that you are due a check up this week. If I was you I would call first thing in the am and ask to be seen ASAP to get this checked out. This will hopefully offer up some level of reassurance for you. Best Wishes.

  • Hi Mohsatlast  If I was you I would seek help in the morning.  I had a skin graft surgery for a bcc on my face in more or less the same place as yours.  I had a dressing which was stitched to it and a scourer type thing on the top, which my Consultant said was like a weight to hold everything down for the graft to take.  My eye kept watering and this caused a big scab to form (which shouldnt have happened).  I was so upset when I saw it and left it for a week then sent a picture to the Consultant. He told me to vaseline the scab so that it would come off and new skin was underneath but very tender.  Yours is far to early to do this to but I do think you should seek some advice asap. (I did see your picture) xx Let me know how it goes
