Afternoon
so yesterday went to see consultant dermatologist ,he thought my black crusty nodule had come from existing mole. He removed it under local anaesthetic , had deep stitches put in and so stitches on top. He never said much really as it’s getting sent to histology. Go back to weeks to day for results , really hoping it’s going to be benign but just have a horrible feeling.
Do they only remove it if they think it’s cancerous
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
Hi 46 male
Moles are removed so that the dermatologist can find out what they are. Not all moles/lesions that are removed are cancerous. I've had two removed with one being a melanoma and the other being a harmless lichen planus-like keratosis.
That's great that you only have two weeks to wait for your results and please do come back and let us know how it goes.
When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
