I have been to see my plastic surgeon today for the results from the 3 biopsies he took from my nose area 6 weeks ago.
2 were actinic keratosis and were removed with the biopsies. The 3rd is confirmed as BCC.
He will do surgery under local anaesthetic to excise with 3mm margins. 50/50 chance of closure but will have to see on the day if I need a skin graft or forehead flap. The latter was his preferred choice as better results.
Feel remarkably calm, sure I will be anxious on the day and worried about scars etc.
Anyone had a forehead flap and pleased with results? The BCC is to the right of the bridge of my nose near my eye.
Thanks in advance

Morning Helen
That's good news that only 1 of the 3 areas biopsied turned out to be BCC.
Do you have a date yet for your surgery? Try not to worry about having a scar on your face. Plastic surgeons are highly skilled and most people say that their scar is barely visible, if at all, once everything has healed.
If you put forehead flap into the search bar on this group's page it will bring up lots of previous posts on this subject which you can read and respond to.
Hope you don't have too long to wait for the op.

Hi latchbrook
Thanks for your response. No date yet but he indicated weeks rather than months. So hopefully not long to wait.
And I'll do the search and look for other posts.
Thanks

That's great Helen! Only a few days to go.

Hi Helen
How did your surgery go? Hopefully you're well on the way to recovery now.

Hi latchbrook
Thanks for asking after me. Yes surgery went well, had a normal excision with forehead flap reconstruction and 19 stitches.
That was about 5 weeks ago and looking 10 times better than I ever imagined, although the flap bit is quite raised and lumpy. However not worried about scar, just glad the cancer gone.
I have a follow up appointment booked for the 29th May, so any concerns i have can be raised then. And I'm assuming they will give me the all clear also.
I feel pretty lucky as from start to finish i was dealt with really quickly by NHS. Worst bit was waiting for biopsy results.
Thanks again for all of your support along the way. This forum really helped me.

Oh I'm really pleased to hear that everything's gone well Helen, in fact better than you'd imagined.
It's great to know that you've found the forum helpful. Perhaps you might consider sticking around so that you can give support to others who come here with questions and fears about BCC.
Look after yourself
