Hi. New to this and never taken part in a forum before. A friend suggested i have look.
ooooh  seems like a long wait hope it comes through soon for you.  It is the waiting that takes over your life you feel you cant book a break away anywhere in case it comes through in the post and you get a quicker appointment as I did.  Fingers crossed you wont have to wait too long.
Well the BCC on the side of my nose that my doctor didnt hesitate to diagnose as one, turned out to be nothing, so I have a nice scar there, not too noticeable but it's still there, and I noticed some change on the tip of my nose.   I pointed it out to him on a further Docs appointment but he said it was nothing, then when I went to have the side one removed I pointed it out to the surgeon he thought it was nothing but he took a biopsy.  Two weeks later a letter comes through, after several phone calls from me, setting out Surgery (1) and Surgery (2) results. The former being nothing, but the latter, the tip of my nose, is a nodular BCC so I have been asking if anyone knows what a nodular one is??? I now have an appointment on the 11th July to meet with the Mohs surgeron/doctor, the consultant who did the original surgery and an oncologist.  And you will love this, in the letter it mentioned radiotherapy, which the original consultant ruled out !!! As he said Mohs gives better results, with radiotherapy you can't see if you have it all out and a margin, but with Mohs you can.   So in a nutshell there you have it.  Hopefully some sort of clarify and step forward will be reached on the 11th July - thank you for asking - have you heard of a nodular BCC before??
wishing you a speedy date to move on Best Denise Linen 2664Â
Hello Denise Linen 2664,
How funny to now maybe have the option of radiotherapy instead of surgery - the opposite to me!
Yes, a nodular BCC I think is just something that's there and hasn't infiltrated around the area as mine has. I think they're easier to remove and can just be kind of lopped off/cut out quite easily, but not sure of course.
Good luck on 11th July - I've put mine out of my mind now and really am glad the timescale is long because it means it isn't the worst thing a person could have.
Best wishes,
Clare C (FrancesC)
Hi Frances C (Clare)

Take care for now
Denise Linen
Same about the sun - frightened of it now.
Yes, let me know the upshot of 11th July.
All the best for now,
Clare C/Frances C
Hi /Denise
I was wondering how you got on at your appointment on the 11th July?
Best wishes x
Hi Latchbrook
Appointment was fine but I have to had Mohs surgery and just awaiting appointment which I am told is months as there is only one surgeon in Worcs who can do this type of surgery. I am looking into having it done privately with him, but still a long wait and I am a great lover of the NHS thank you for thinking of me. I have to say I am not looking forward to it as I know what the procedure consists of. So hanging on to my little button nose a tad longer
Best for now Denise
Hi Denise,
I haven't been on here for a very long time, but here I am again.
My nose issue has been with me for a year now. I had an appointment at Croydon hospital this Monday just gone, having been told in early June by the Marsden that they didn't want to do radiotherapy as they couldn't be sure where the margins of my BCC began and ended and they were afraid they would either irradiate too much or not enough.
The surgeon I saw on Monday was a specialist in MOHS and was very nice and reassuring too and I began to feel a bit of confidence that it might be alright after all, having been very disappointed and depressed in June to find out that radiotherapy was no longer an option. I went back on Wednesday this week to see him again with a reconstructive surgeon and a Macmillan nurse.
They were able to give me the date for the surgery...wait for it...19th March 2019!! The surgery will be at Croydon and if you know MOHS you'll know that they couldn't say how long it would take or how much of the nose would have to be gouged out, until they're actually doing it. The surgeon said that from experience the BCC I have seems to be small (though it's infiltrative) and he was confident that it would be able to be repaired with just a small graft taken from the nose itself. The repair/reconstruction would be two days later at St George's in Tooting with the reconstructive surgeon.
I have to hang onto their confidence and hope for the best, though my big fear is the Paramedian forehead flap - and I feel that that might be your fear too.
Because there's a long time to go until the actual operation I feel ok at the moment and quite positive, but I'm sure when it comes nearer to the date I'll be feeling very different.
I hope you're ok Denise - let me know about going private etc, though I'm a very big fan of the NHS too.
Very best wishes,
Clare
Glad to hear that things are progressing, if a bit slowly /Denise.
Please keep in touch x
Hi Clare
seems like you have been having a myriad of appointments, a tad like me, likewise I have not been on the site recently have been a little busy - I am still awaiting appointment to have Mohs surgery, lovely doctor at Worcester, whom I have met, and as mentioned to Latchbrook I am investigating having it done privately with him, will keep you posted when I know more. He is back from hols this week as is his Secretary I have left a message for his Secretary to call me to discuss. However, as mentioned to Latchbrook and like you I am a great believer in our NHS system, but it is just all the waiting that throws me into the Hall of Horrors as I put it. You have a huge wait too, you go into dips and troughs if that is the correct expression good days and bad days. Do you mind me asking Clare how do they know it is infiltrative ?? I guess not visible on the surface, a bit like mine, and in the same place too. I wish we could excahnge phone numbers then I could pick the phone up like we used to do in the days of good old Blighty, I even have an old bakerlight black phone you put your finger in to dial. In fact I have most things mechanical, piano, wind up gramaphone, old sewing machine non-electrical, my old phone doesnt require electricity, and an old typewriter I am just trying to source a ribbon for, so I am all set to go when I switch off from the tech world. Anyway if you know a way, or may be if Latchbrook reads this could may be inform us how we can speak to each other, considering we are going through the same thing.
Clare can you enlighten me to what a Paramedian forehead flap is !!!! I know they cant tell until they go in to take away the bad cells just exactly how much they have to remove so it is hard for them to determine what reconstruction, if any, will take place. We are at the mercy of their hands and scalpel etc....
keep me posted and keep going KBO my friend and dont forget to breathe most important
Best for now Denise Linen xxx
