Hi,
This is a forum I never thought I would be joining. I was diagnosed last week with a BCC on the back of my leg. Its the size of a penny and has been there for at least 2 years. As it never bothered me, I ignored it, thinking it was exema! Turns out it wasnt.
So gp gave me a cream called imiquimod that I have to put on 5 x a week for 6 weeks. I havnt started this yet as i work at a school and we break up next week so thought I would wait till then.
I want advice on how best to approach this. Ive read that the side effects can be quite brutal, flu like symptoms, nausea, fatigue etc. Is there anything I can do to ease these symptoms? Im only allowed paracetamol as i use blood thinners so no ibrufen, asprin etc.
Has anyone here had the same treatment and how did it effect you? You can be brutal & honest as i would rather be prepared.
Ive just bought myself a hot tub & was so looking fwd to spending my summer hols in it ... typical!
Thanks for reading x
Hi Rebecca 1968
I've used imiquimod on my nose a few years ago.
Yes after a couple of weeks it made me feel quite fluey headache aches and pains, fatigue and sore throat.. it was nothing I couldn't handle though and I finished the course..
My skin reacted and became red and sore but healed up quickly after finishing the course as did the flu like symptoms.
It wasn't as bad as id anticipated so hopefully it'll be ok for you and will get rid of the problem
