Hi

I'm new here and this hopefully will be the first of small amount of posts.

I have had a mole on my back since the year dot. On holiday early may with my sister she remarked she didn't like the look of it. She has been pestering me ever since to get it checked. Friday I saw my practice nurse for a B12 inhection and thought I'd ask her opinion. She said straight away it had ragged edges and was crusty. She reccomended getting to see our specialist Mole/wart gp. Filled in triage form and mistakenly called it a wart!!. I now have a appointment with said gp for next Thursday 2nd July. Anybody else had similar and can put my mind at rest. I have had cervical cancer, and both parents died from cancer, sister has CLL and may more relatives with cancer.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I know how difficult waiting for appointments can be as it's natural to expect the worst. However, this time next week you should have more of an idea what you might be dealing with.

I'm sure everyone in this group would like to "put your mind at rest" but equally I'm sure you realise that none of us can say whether your lesion is cancerous or not. However, you've done absolutely the right thing in getting it checked.

Do come back and let us know how you get on and, if it does turn out to be cancerous, there'll be lots of people here who can share their experiences with you.

  • Thankyou. I'm hoping i don't have to post again only to update. Thankyou again.

  • Just so you don't think I have posted a d run

Gp is poorly so appointment has been postponed until Monday. Got hubby to measure it which is 12mm. Showed daughter today and she said wow, that's got big. Now have to wait 5 more days.....the wait is the worst. Will get back to here on Monday

     Appreciate this forum.

  • So Gp considers it a seb k. I was of the belief that a seb k can not grow on a mole?. I did say this without response. He measured it at 12mm x 3.5 cm. I asked for removal which he said only if it becomes troublesome. He did reluctantly freeze it. No need to go back. I'm not convinced but he is the expert not me.  I hope all you lovely people who have been diagnosed go on ok. Thankyou for your time and efforts adios.Dalip.

  • Hey

It took me four months to get my melanoma diagnosed back in 2018 as the doctor dealing with it didn't think it was anything concerning and was very reluctant to remove it despite me expressing that I thought the growth was not right (full details in my bio if you're interested). He eventually agreed and actually told me to my face that the reason he was doing it was to save NHS money as he thought I'd keep coming back to get it looked at again and again if he didn't. He wasn't wrong, to be fair, I would've done!

Completely up to you of course, but based on my experience, if I didn't feel reassured by what I'd been told, I would go back.

    All the best. x

  • Wow just read your journey, you sound remarkably strong, but then the written word can be misjudged.

I will give it a couple more weeks to see if the freezing works if not I will return. To be totally honest I have not paid much attention to it as its on my back and only sees daylight once a year on holiday. But and it's a big but it has grown considerably and I really don't like the look of it.

Thankyou so much for your reply and input.
