Hi there, I have just been diagnosed with SCC - I have appointments over the next few weeks with ENT, Dermatology and a PET Scan. I am very very scared, single Mum with two young kids who are 10 and 16. I feel really well, just like myself, not sleeping great with worry, lungs are clear and been discharged from Haematology. I did hear the word mestastatic when the consultant was diagnosing me. I have just googled this word and I am extremely worried now. I haven't told many people. Don't want my kids to know. Being very very positive. But just need to talk to someone who understands. Thanks for listening.
Hi Fionnuala and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne and although I've had different cancer diagnoses to you I know how scared you're probably feeling right now.
I just want to check that you're in the right group for the best support so I hope you don't mind me asking if the SCC you have been diagnosed with is a skin cancer or in some other part of your body? SCC pops up in lots of different cancers and with you mentioning that you'd been discharged from haematology this made me wonder.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi Anne, thank you for letting me know. The consultant did say skin to me. I don't have a treatment plan yet, heading to ENT and Dermatology next week and the PET scan. I will pop something into my profile. My head is all over the place.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
