Hey I’m 41f couple months ago I went to gp as I had this small lump on my leg and it want healing I’d ignored it for around 2 years making up excuses! Bug bite maybe aggravated by shaving then I realised it been 2 years ! Anyway seen a dermatologist who suspected BCC but actually after the removal it was a SCC I only found this out a few days ago. They seemed confident they removed it all and I’m waiting review from MDT but I’ve been experiencing other health issues past year and wonder if It could possibly be related? I did see the gp about this issues early this year then ran all the usual bloody test and just suggested stress age and hormones! Could weight loss, groin pain, fatigue be related or do I need to accept its stress age and hormones?
Hi TraceyLHa1af9c and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I've had skin cancers I don't have any experience with SCC. However, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
Have you been allocated a skin cancer nurse specialist (SCNS)? If so, it would be a good idea to tell them about your other health issues and they should be able to advise you if they could be related or not.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you for replying, I’ve now added to profile. Still awaiting to hear from nurse all a bit of a pickle as I live in Gloucester but for unknown reasons I was referred out to Kidderminster/ Worcester hospitals by the dermatologist and have no real point of contact at the moment and as we recently moved house I’m still in process of switching gp surgery’s
kindest regards
Hi There, sorry to hear about your SCC. I too had one recently excised from my back which had become a small tumour. I have experienced weight loss over the last year too. I also have no point of contact as am being treated as an outpatient with no nurse - consultant contact which is concerning and frustrating. I flagged the weight loss with my GP and nurse during a health check but this has been largely dismissed (I have lost 11kg in the last 11months). Good luck with your treatment. I had a long wait for my biopsy results to be reviewed by the MDT (9 weeks) and my GP advised following up through PALS. Wishing you well
