im 19 years old, autistic. my mum has just been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma? im struggling with shock. my mum is my EVERYTHING. im extremely attached to her, shes my safe person, my best friend. I dont know what im supposed to do. she has a emergency appointment to remove the areas affected but im so scared and I dont know how to support her. she hasent even cried about it. I just dont know what im supposed to do, being autistic makes my emotions much harder, ive cried once because I just dont understand why it had to be her. I know survival is high as its caught early but im still so scared and confused. help please?

I haven't had squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) but I have had basal cell carcinoma and melanoma so I do understand how worrying having a cancer diagnosis can be.
SCC is the second most common form of skin cancer in the UK. Most are low risk skin cancers and can be completely cured by surgery.

There are quite a few people in the group who have had surgery for SCC and I'm sure they'd be happy to share their experiences with you if you want to ask any questions.
