BCC on the eyelid

My journey started when i noticed a lump on my lower eyelid. I thought at the time that it was a stye so i left it.

However when it disappeared it left a hole in my eye lid that was quite long and noticeable. I visited the doctor who referred me to a eye hospital then i had a appointment at another NHS building. I then went to an eye hospital specialist who diagnosed BCC. My eye can be red sore itchy flaky. The gap in my eyelid fills up with something i call gunk. A build up of cells? waste product from damaged tear ducts? im not too sure. My eye can be blood shot, the area can tingle and its hard not to rub it. I wash it regularly and at the moment there is a small bit of blood.

My vision can be blurry and most days it is. The bcc is slowly progressing.

  • Hi Ammon what have the specialists said they are going to do for you.  Surely they must have discussed a treatment plan with you and not just left it.

    • Hi Harlyn, Thankyou for your reply. I've been told I will need MOHS surgery initially and then I need to wait then. I will get my results and then I will have a HUGHES FLAP.  There may be other ways to treat it but at the moment I'm watching it slowly change and take my eyelid away.
  • Hi Ammon

Have they given you a waiting time period or any advice on how to look after it in meantime as it sounds like it's open?

I haven't had a bcc near my eye. Mine was on my nose

    • Hi Puckettyboo Thank you for your reply. My eyelid now has an open trough several mm deep and across and fills up with something I have to remove carefully. There are waiting times and so I'm being seen next month i hope. It will probably get worse before it gets better I feel but I'm remaining positive and won't hesitate to go to the eye hospital if anything develops.
  • Yes. Definitely go back if you're not happy with something.   You don't want to be getting an infection

  • Hi Puckettyboo hope you don't mind me asking this  did everything go well for your operation? Im being sedated I think for mine. Was it a day operation?
