Letter arrived whilst we were away confirming SCC - obviously I had been hoping for BCC and - whilst I know SCC isn‘t likely to spread I am still anxious. The letter said they would arrange an appointment for a full check up which sounds scary - can anyone confirm what this might involve? TIA - Nancy
Hi EnRayn and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that you've been diagnosed with SCC and it's natural to be anxious about both the diagnosis and your upcoming check-up.
As I haven't had a SCC diagnosis, mine were melanoma and BCC, I don't know what will happen at this check-up but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where hopefully someone whose had a check-up after a SCC diagnosis will see it and respond.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi EnRayn
I forgot to mention in my earlier reply, but have you phoned the number on the appointment letter to ask what to expect at this appointment so that you'll be prepared?
Thanks for the suggestion- I called and she actually made me an appointment in the phone so I am going tomorrow for a full body exam
Let us know what happens at the "full body exam" as it'll be useful for people in future.
Checked over all my skin and decided some AKs needed scraping - also checked my lymph nodes which were fine
That's great to read that everything is fine except for a few actinic keratoses which need removing.
