Hi Guys
It’s good to know there are forums like this for support.
After a lot of appointments to the GP being referred to a Dermatologist and finally getting an appointment only to be discharged saying nothing sinister. I persevered and got another referral .I had a red patch of skin under my left eyebrow which was not going away.I insisted on a biopsy and guess what it was BCC. I had wasted 18 months .
I knew it was BCC because I’ve had 4 of them before.
This particular one is in a a very awkward position on the thin skin below the eyebrow. It’s going to be Mohs surgery and to be honest I think it will be horrendous.
Has anybody else had one there?
Hi JayC and welcome to the group. I have had two bcc's on my face but not in the position yours is and think we all persevere as gp's aren't that good at diagnosing these little beasts. The one that I had that was nasty was at the top of my nose and by my tear duct Nasty operation I had a skin graft on it and it was a mess for a few months but has healed ok now. Is a plastic surgeon doing the procedure for you. I had plastic surgeon and he was brilliant and my scarring now isn't too bad at all, but as you say the skin where yours is is very tender and thin. I didn't have Mohs. I was offered it but declined as would have had to go to Nottingham and I wanted it done in Derby by my plastic surgeon who said he was confident he would get it all out using normal surgery and a skin graft, which he did. Good Luck and keep in touch as this site is brilliant and we all help one another through this journey xx
Hello
I havnt had one there. Mine was on side of my nose.
I have a small suspicious lesion in my inner eye area which may be biopsied. The dermatologist wasn't sure and went for the wait and see approach. It doesn't seem to have grown in a year but I think I'm still going for the biopsy.
My original dermatologist dismissed my basal cell as nothing even telling me that at my age I wasn't going to have perfect skin.
Over a year later and it had become a lot more nodular my GP reluctantly agreed to refer me back to dermatology the one I saw immediately diagnosed a bcc.
Always trust your instincts and having had them before you would know if something wasn't right.
Please keep in touch with your progress
What annoys me so much is that the message is early detection of any suspicious lesions
My experience is that doesn’t mean a thing. I have an appointment tomorrow with the Dermatologist because I sent him photos of other lesions despite only seeing a Dermatologist a couple of months ago.I really do feel that some Consultants choose to adopt a wait and see policy unless the patient insists on action.
I can’t believe how many BCC’s are missed .
I will update you tomorrow
