I’m wondering if anyone can help. I attended the dermatologist 2 weeks ago after being referred by my GP because of a 30mm area on my back.
The dermatologist diagnosed a BCC and then completed Cryotherapy using liquid nitrogen, I’ve to return in 3 months.
There was no biopsy taken for testing, is this normal?
Grateful for any advice.
Hi MsMoki,
If the BCC is not raised, or very little raised, and very typical, cryotherapy is an effective treatment with less risk of infection than surgery. You are lucky to have caught the problem at this stage. I've had lots of cryotherapy for early BCCs and it works well. It takes a while to heal up but then the skin is completely clear again.
In any case you have another appointment in 3 months to check the recovery.
Take care
Miranda
