I went to the GP 10 days ago and he told me I had a BCC on my forehead which would need to be cut out. He explained the NHS waiting list is long and I may want to research private alternatives. When I got home I looked up the dermatology waiting times here in Norfolk and it's 26 weeks just for a consultation then another 21 before they do anything!  I contacted a local private skin clinic who did a photo and telephone consultation within 3 working days and today, day 10, I have had the BCC removed under local anesthetic.  I felt no pain and have a cut about 8 cm.  All stitched up nice and neat. A bit of swelling and bruising but that's to be expected. I am just pleased to have the cancer out. The doctor seemed confident he had removed it all but it will be tested at the lab and I'll get the results in a couple of weeks. I am an anxious person so a wait of a year was something I couldn't do. It's shocking our health service is in such a mess. I'm just glad I had some savings I could use to pay for this.
