I had my TPB today and it was nowhere near as bad as I thought.

i had been worrying about it for weeks and was frankly terrified.

it is somewhat embarrassing, especially as my doctor was a young women, I had 19 biopsy’s taken and only one was painful.

The local anaesthetic was by far the most painful part but it just stings for a few seconds.

i managed to pee very soon after and was back home, slightly sore but paracetamol managed this fine.

So don’t put it off just get it done.

Now a three or four weeks wait for the results.

I am pleased your biopsy went well - and hope the results are OK.

  • Hi Palerma

Millibob is right pointing you to the Prostate Cancer Forum - so much information on there.  I only got onto it a few weeks back but am finding it very helpful, and the good news stories are always good to read!

I too have had a TPB which did sound daunting at first but was relatively straightforward (I had a good surgeon). The worst bit was the freezing spray before the local anaesthetic injections and then the prodding with a needle to check if the anaesthetic had taken hold!! Bit uncomfortable during the biopsies (21 in total) but it all soon passes and then onto the next bit - the results and then the plan for the next stage, at which point it does seem to get better.

Do come back into the Prostate Cancer Forum with your results and ask of any advice - I have found some great support on here.

It is also helpful to us to see your profile, so have a go at that if you want to - perhaps include your results so that the experienced guys can assist even more.

    Keep positive!
