Hello, 77 year old male with MRI scan result of PIRAD 5, stage 3 B. Recently had biopsies and awaiting results. My question is at the appointment to discuss the results and treatment options, do I have to decide at the time or do I get a follow up appointment to discuss and confirm
No you should have follow on appointments with specialists such as oncology to discuss treatment options. It is possible that your MDT will strongly recommend one treatment option but you should not be pushed to make an immediate decision if you are not comfortable with it.
Rob
Hello Annea66
As you said in your previous thread, your husband has MS so once all the test results are in I think it wise for your husband's MS consultant to chat with his oncologist to agree a treatment plan. As Rob (Sandberg ) said above you don't have to accept the MDT meeting's recommendation.
To help you with this you need the full diagnosis from the biopsy (Gleason Score - TNM Score and Latest PSA). We also have a list of questions you can use to put a list together to ask at the meeting - link here:
Questions to ask your healthcare team.
I hope the above helps.
Best wishes - Brian.
