Hello Dave (owls)
Welcome to the group, although I am so sorry to find you joining us.
We do have a group for travel insurance questions and the link is here:
Travel insurance forum for cancer patients
Travel insurance with prostate cancer can vary depending where you are on your journey, and your destination. If you are on the Hormone Therapy/Radiotherapy route it's much cheaper after you have completed your radiotherapy.
I renewed my joint annual worldwide insurance yesterday and the best quote (with the best cover - I had 3 levels to chose from) came with Albert & Eddie which I understand to be with Insurancewith.
I will tag my fellow Community Champion Derek (excavator) to this post and he will be along to offer a reply as insurance is "his game"
In the meanwhile I am happy to answer any questions.
Best wishes - Brian .

We have an Annual travel insurance with our Virgin Bank within our monthly fee. I was worried to call and see if we were now covered and how much extra it might cost after my diagnosis.
Simple call and question - is your treatment over?
Yes - Ok then you are fully insured and there is nothing extra to pay.
PHEW!
Hello Dave (owls),
2 or 3 weeks in Spain sounds good to me. As Brian (Millibob) says, insurance availabilty / cost will depend where you are as far as diagnosis and treatment is concerned - as well as age and any other medical conditions.
I also ended up getting annual cover via Albert and Eddie (with Holidaysafe) in late 2024 and renewed with them again in 2025 at virtually the same price. I found they were the most competitive for me. They do single trip too if that's all you need at the moment.
Make sure to answer all medical questions accurately and don't guess if you're in any doubt, check with your consultant or doc if you're not sure. I'd suggest getting online quotes, it' a lot quicker but if you're in any doubt at all when you've decided who to go with you can 'phone them then to go through your answers with them before buying.
Have a geat time in Spain,
All the best, Derek.

Hello Dave owls . Welcome to the group. Good question! I also think it depends on where you are on your PCa journey. For example…
While I was still having tests and before a full diagnosis I had to pay a hefty supplement on our joint insurance to cover myself for a one-off trip to Lanzarote. Then, after diagnosis but before RT treatment, the insurers refused cover me so I was removed from the joint policy. I rang a few people and couldn’t find one who would consider insurance. Post-RT treatment and with low PSA I took the advice of others on here and got a quote via Albert & Eddie. Insurancewith with was my preferred option, annual cover was less than the one-off supplement. So we have arranged 2 holidays in France in the summer and we’re off to the Canaries (again!) in a few weeks.
While on the subject, probably worth mentioning that I declared paroxysmal AF as well. I had to have a cardioversion in Croatia some years ago. That day in a Soviet-era hospital cost me £35, no doubt a lot more expensive now in Western Europe… And two years ago, a visit to the docs in France with a UTI (which clearly hadn’t fully cleared after being treated in the UK) cost me €50 plus more for the antibios. Both less than the excess so unable to claim.
Hello owls
No need to apologise, we are all happy to help. I hope you got a reasonable deal.
I am off to Turkey on Tuesday so it's happy days - .
Best wishes - Brian.
