Delay of Prostap injection

Hello everyone,

Not been on here for a while mainly because things seem to be going well regarding PSA levels etc, after radiotherapy which was completed in August 2024.

However, I have a current concern over my next Prostap injection. I have been told that the injection I was hoping to have on Thursday 13th November needs to be rescheduled.

I originally asked for this date at my last injection appointment (August 22nd) because I am away on a short (5 day) break to Madrid, starting on the 14th November but I am being told that, because the 13th is one day before the 12 week period ends, it can't be given until after the 15th of November.

I spoke with my GP practice today and they are saying that I can reschedule for the 20th November which means that this will be 7 days after I should have received it.

Is this likely to cause me any problems regarding PSA levels etc as I am really not sure?

Any advice or experiences over this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

John

  • Hello John (

We have been having a chat about this on another thread (is the injection 12 weeks or 3 months?) so moving the date to 20 November won't be a problem.

The 3 month injection is a slow release injection which supresses your testosterone - as you will find out once you have had your final injection and completed your final 12 weeks - it builds up in your body and it takes some while for your testosterone to recover. You have been on HT for 21 months so I assume there's plenty of "spare" HT to cover the "missing" few days in your body.

  • Thanks very much for getting back to me Brian.....I really appreciate it as always.

Happily it now transpires, after some cajoling, that they can fit me in for my injection (12 weekly)a good hour before we set off to the airport.

    All is well now.....phew.
