Hi everyone

Im new here and wanted to share my story.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 2 years ago, and currently I am cancer free.
I chose to have radiotherapy instead of the operation.

Lately my symptoms seem to be getting worse, i am never off the toilet for a number 1 and 2 day and night. Constantly tired, I am 72 so I don’t know if it’s just age.

I was wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar, and if so how you’ve managed or what helped.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to connecting with you all

  • Hi  , welcome to the site.  Are you in touch with your oncologist/cancer nurse?  If so, I think a quick word with them would be in order.  If not, then start with your GP. You don’t say if you are in pain or if there are any other symptoms (eg blood) so it is difficult to assess what is happening.  RT continues to work well after the treatment has completed.

In my own case just over a year after I completed RT, I started experiencing symptoms and was diagnosed with radiation proctitis.  Effectively the bowel was hit as collateral damage.

  • Thanks very much for your reply. I wouldn’t say I was in pain but have a weird feeling in my stomach have had a camera but shows nothing, no blood when I go to the toilet. I will take your advice and go back to the doctor.

    Best wishes

  • When you realise what the RT is doing to the bad guys, it really isn’t a great surprise that some of the good guys are also casualties.  Any major issues should have been picked up by the camera.
