What are the side effects of radiation and chemotherapy treatment and how long does it last

  • Hello Jimmy  (

Welcome to the group, although I an so sorry to find you here.

Everyone has different reactions to the various treatments - some folk go through treatments without any side effects, others get many or all of them. Here's a couple of links you may find that give you the details:

    Radiotherapy-for-prostate-cancer.

    Chemotherapy-for-locally-advanced-prostate-cancer.

I hope this helps - Feel free to ask any questions.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  •   I initially hesitated to reply as everyone seems to have a different experience. I was made aware surgery wasn’t an option for me quite early on so went down the radiotherapy route, finishing a couple of months ago. If you would like to read my profile (click on Amplitude above) it details what the side-effects I experienced from RT were, both during and post-RT.

  • Hi  , I can’t answer despite having had both.  How each of us react to various treatments varies from each person to the next.  Most treatments are tolerable and I would certainly go through my regime again (in fact I will probably have to!).  Feel free to ask any questions and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes, David
