Hi

I'm new to the forum and am hoping that someone has some useful advice

I had my prostate removed and then had a BCR so had radiotherapy last November

Since then my bowel movements have been all over the place and there have been occasions when there has been blood in my stool

So my question is there anything I can do to reduce / stop the symptoms

  • Blood in stool, red or black? Red fresh blood probably piles (unlikely to be an infection. Keep an eye on it. If you are loosing a cup of blood in a day then ring 111.

Black blood tell your oncology team.

As for irregular bowels, that could be many things but mine are irregular due to pain killers and other pills, as well as the chemotherapy. If you’re not taking a laxative and you’re constipated you need to start taking them. I use Laxido. Up to three a day.

If you’re ever worried just ring 111 and get someone’s advice. It will stop you worrying.

    take care

  • Hi, I am sure others will reply with better information, but my advice would be to see a doctor as there should not be blood in your stool and it may just not be related to your treatment. Best to rule that out.

  • Hello

Welcome to the group, although I am so sorry to find you here.

I have to agree with Gina above ( You need a GP appointment to have this issue resolved as it might not be radiotherapy related.

Please do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes - Brian.
